“Reflecting on and adopting the use of micro-affirmations would be a positive strategy to prevent microaggressions. Micro-affirmations are small acts that foster inclusion, listening, comfort and support for people who may feel isolated or invisible in their environment. Focus on action, not avoidance – create new good behaviours.”

It feels like the numbers are low. Majority of agency talent seems cis/het and married with kids these days. Always feel like the outsider esp when Mom-talk dominates every meeting these days.
Low I can't think of any at Publicis Groupe.
We have a low rep of LGBTQA+ at all levels. Someone called out the lack of LGBTQA+ diversity at one of the Boston/Detroit town halls this spring.
A lot of agencies consider cis gay white men as diversity the same way they consider cis het white women as diversity and don’t look beyond those demographics. It’s progress but defaulting to the majority demographic of an oppressed group that is already over represented in society isn’t great.
As I’m looking for work, the first thing I research before I think about applying is leadership diversity.
There are some agencies where it varies, and some where you can tell it’s forced.
Maybe I’m overly cynical because I don’t want to end up in another work environment where I can’t safely be out (so maybe take my opinions with a grain of salt).
I don’t doubt that there are great and inclusive places to work out there. If I had to guess, they might be *smaller. Maybe in niche industries?
*Still large enough to have HR though
How are you finding the search for leadership diversity? I’ve been finding that a lot of companies have the “were inclusive to LGBTQA+” sections in their websites but that’s about it. I don’t expect people to put themselves on a company website because it can be seen as tokenism, but at the same time a inclusive statement on the website doesn’t make me feel like I won’t be othered or ostracized if I end up being the only queer woman there.
We have a fairly good distribution. We have a lesbian VP and value diverse hiring. We were given PTO for BLM protests and are also given PTO for Election Day

We actually have quite a few throughout the Omnicom network - though of course, we need better representation of LGBTQIA+ POC in leadership.
