Hi guys ,
I am in a US project in Accenture. We have long calls in the night timings. My other teammate has backed out saying she won't attend any calls as she got some medical condition so she won't attend long calls which extend till 9:30.Other teammate is a junior. The managers are expecting me to join all the calls. No help I am getting. And they all being Tamil, I think some partiality is going on between them.Even our onsite lead is of no use.She expects me to attend long calls.
What should I do .pls suggest?

My camera is off 100% of the time and no one has ever asked me to turn it on or made it mandatory. It's completely optional.

Nothing official. With small meetings (2-3 people) it is common to turn them on, but for meetings larger than that, especially when people are presenting, they stay off.
In 1:1s I generally ask people to have their camera on if they're comfortable. For team meetings some folks usually have it on.
If nobody ever turned their camera on consistently, I might talk about it in 1:1s and ask people to maybe turn on their cameras while they're speaking (if they're comfortable) since I find that helps a lot with engagement.
Overall, I don't want to mandate camera policies. More suggestions for optimal engagement.
I personally find it rude to not have a camera on during intimate meetings. Larger ones I don’t think it matters
Generally, camera on for team meetings and anything interactive. We do team meetings once a week - so generally ask for that courtesy from the group to be present and visible.
Camera off if listen-only, or if you need to be AFK.
And the pro move for external Zooms - camera off, unless the other party goes camera on.
Unspoken rule at my place that everyone has cameras on for every meeting (even with 20+ people). Would probably become a spoken rule if I didn’t put mine on for several calls in a row and didn’t provide an excuse.
I prefer camera on. It seems rude to have it off while you're in a video meeting.
We have to turn our cameras on
