What do people find interesting about practicing privacy law? I transitioned because a lot of this work is evolving and it is a niche, so that means money and job security. However, IR work seems boring and annoying. Trial work had a more obvious skill set to grow, so I’m curious about what makes a good privacy attorney as well.

Learning and keeping up with the tech, and advising in a space with ambiguous and/or constantly evolving regulations. It’s fast-moving and can be very interesting, particularly if you practice privacy in anything technology-related.

Genuinely curious: What on earth gave you the impression that IR work is boring? Annoying? Yes. Oftentimes tedious or frustrating? Yes. But definitely not boring.

Working in privacy is like working in tech 20 years ago ie constantly evolving. You have to always be in learning mode to keep up plus have a belief that privacy is worth protecting. If that's not something that floats your boat, working in privacy will never make you happy.

Hi Fishes,
I have an experience of 6 years in Production and Application Support. I have worked as middleware administrator as well for Jboss and Weblogic.
But due to the diminishing demands of the role in IT industry , I am planning to switch my career in Devops or AWS which would help me grow.
But I am not sure without any practical knowledge, will I get a job at this many years of experience in a different profile.
Do companies hire for AWS profiles with good packages at beginners level?

Is it really worth it to proceed with a company like Amazon for 25k+. I live in CA so $ is imp but I do have a toddler so WLB is also imp. Both role are Sr. MGR.
