What are the monetary benefits we receive in GOC
Hi folks, how is thoughtworks as an organisation?
Asking because I don't know much about it and have received recruiter's call today. Currently I am working in Deloitte. How is thoughtworks hikes, wlb, does it provide any benefits apart from fixed pay? My research gives me a mixed review: some say it's good, some say that thoughtworks is not stable enough like big 4 or other organisations. Pls help Thoughtworks Deloitte
Is it worth to join cerner for 45%:hike (my current package is 18 lpa and cerner offering 25 fixex and 27 as a ctc) and leave hcl ? (Hcl is trying to retain me and offering 23 lpa package and 100% promotion)
For major concern is job security and work life balance.

2-14 WEEKS MAT LEAVE?! What in the actual F?! You barely have time to heal and get your brain back. God I never understood American healthcare, everything is so backasswards.
Get this...a friend of mine is a partner at a law firm, working in the medical field and she just returned from her 6 week leave! It’s really sad. With my first I got 6 months and with my current pregnancy I’ll get 4 months. I’m one of the lucky ones and really wish we could start talking about this more and banding together to fight for an acceptable standard for all.
You’d be surprised at how little standards, much less gold, there are around mat leave. At a national level, FMLA protects full-time employees who have been at their job for at least a full year (even then, if your job has less than 50 employees, it doesn’t qualify) for a period of 12 unpaid weeks. Some states (such as CA) provide short term disability (up to 6 weeks for vaginal delivery, up to 8 weeks for a C-section). So if you live in CA and just found out that your job pays 1 week maternity, then if you only want to take paid time off, that means 7 weeks or 9 weeks total off. You can still take up to 12 and technically they would have to hold your job, but you wouldn’t be collecting any money during that time.
Our policy is:
- 6 weeks of short term disability at 100% pay (8 for a c section)
- 6 weeks of parental leave at 100% pay
So a mom who has a c section will get 14 weeks. Adoptive parents or non-birthing parents will get 6. You can supplement with vacation time with manager approval.
This seems pretty agency-standard from what I’ve seen elsewhere.
I max’d out every avenue possible and ended up with a total of three months. I combined every vacation day and the company let me pull a week forward so that I could get the time with baby instead of a week later in the year. I hadn’t even been with the company 6 months when I went into labor 5 weeks early. They were great and worked with me to be sure I got a solid amount of time off. I’d ask now and work out a plan.
(And to everyone else that mentioned it... the convo should be happening and the policies should change. It’s horrifying what we need to go through and give up to spend 3 months with our baby. #change2020)
Ours I learned was:
1. One wk paid maternity leave
2. 6-8 wks short term disability depending on how you give birth
3. Vacation + sick days if you need more
Plus during this time you’re still paying for insurance even if not getting paid a full salary.
What’s a normal policy? Is this it?
That actually sounds more like the “normal” in our industry because it’s garbage. That’s what it is at most Publicis agencies
