Interviewed at Deloitte, PwC and EY for Advisory Senior Consultant role. Deloitte offered $105K (plus $5K bonus), PWC offered $127K (plus $15K bonus) and EY offered $155K (plus $10K bonus). Surprised with the difference in pay between Deloitte & EY for same role. Is Deloitte Advisory paying less compared to other firms? 4.5YOE in Consulting.

Assoc @ k = analyst @ d
Sr @ k = consultant @ d
Mgr @ k = sr consultant / low level mgr @ d
Director @ k = mgr / sr mgr @ d
Pmd @ k = pmd @ d
Don’t listen to D. The levels are 1-1. D people are always putting themselves on a pedestal and trying to group themselves with MBB. They’re actually lower than ACN in a lot of ways.
Lol SC2 how can that be if the levels are different. Years exp is a different story but that’s not what was asked
They’re named differently but they aren’t different. The only one you got wrong was sr at kpmg is both consultant and Sr consultant at Deloitte. Everything after that has a 1-1 mapping. Manager is manager, director is Sr manager, and then either you buy in and become a partner or don’t and become an MD/specialist leader.
Btw I’ve worked at Deloitte.
MD at K seems to not be the equivalent of partner. More and more often do I see MD being used as a stepping stone from director to partner
They aren’t exactly 1-1... a first year SA at K is going to come in as a C.. an experienced SA can come in as SC.
Similarity a brand new manager may come in as an experienced SC, however I’ve seen Managers come in as Managers as well
I’d slightly disagree with the chart proposed by D1. At least the way we look at it when hiring someone from Deloitte is as follows.
Analyst @D = Assoc @K
Consultant @ D = assoc or Sr assoc @K (depending on experience)
Sr consultant @ D= Sr assoc @ K
Mgr = Mgr
Director = Sr Manager
PMD = PMD
Director 1 is correct ☝🏻consider that KPMG hired into senior associate post MBA whereas Deloitte hires into senior consultant. You should be able to infer the rest of the mapping from there.
Consultant is literally anyone who isn’t fresh grad who has a little experience. Sr consultant manages a small sub workstream.
On an engagement, an MD can serve the same role any Partner would. They just don’t have equity and are below Partner.
D1 is right though. We have less steps / no Consultant step. Its straight to Senior Associate after 2 years as an Associate, typically. 3 for special cases
MD @ K = SM and then Partner.
Not true^ all lateral B4 SM’s come in as Directors from what I’ve seen
So then what are the major differences between C and SC at D?
Never worked at D but used to work at K and saw people switching to and from
Sc1 nailed it
^ really? Oh man yikes. Was considering opps with D. But thats a turn off. At K, even Associates can lead workstreams. Major ones led by SA’s reporting to a Manager or Director
D1- is there no Director at K per your comparison?
We use Sr manager / director interchangeably. Depends on the practice which they prefer, but it’s the same.
