I’m in Spain now with a 3 yo wrapping up 10 days. Madrid, Cordoba, Seville was a perfect itinerary now and would def be in Jan. Have been to Barcelona previously and would choose this itinerary again over BCN
I liked Barcelona and the beach, but not sure in January..also they are a bit hostile toward tourists right now.
For me Madrid is skippable. If you’re willing to fly internally Barcelona and Bilbao would be my picks. I have a big soft spot for Zaragoza as well, beautiful little city you can reach on the train from Barcelona. San Sebastián is also a train ride away from Bilbao and has fantastic food.
Barcelona, Seville and Granada. I’d skip Cordoba.
I did Madrid, day trip to Segovia and cordoba. I hear Valencia region is really nice but didn’t have the time. All seem like different worlds in terms of architecture.
I went Christmas time 2023. Still had an amazing just wear layers. Highly recommend it’s still my wife’s favorite trip and my 2nd.
Barcelona and Madrid, of course
I love Palma de Mallorca. You can get there by ferry. It’s an island right off the coast.
It depends on how you plan to travel around. Car: pick a region like Catalonia, Basque Country, or Andalusia and explore outside the major cities, driving is a great option to get around. High-speed train: major city hubs so you can visit Madrid, Valencia, Barcelona, and Zaragoza easily, in comfort, and 2-3 hours per leg. Fly: Ryan Air and Vueling have excellent budget flights across Spain. January weather varies per region but it us a great low season window to travel in for Spain. I live here full time —don’t be discouraged about the tourist protests, it is more about lack of housing and the impact of long term over-tourism than the individual traveller.
Sevilla is underrated
I’d do two Spanish spots plus Gibraltar
Interesting spot plus a break from Spanish food, which is not my favorite
Pro
Barcelona, Madrid, maybe Segovia
