Ask for a project that works on a different topic you don’t have experience in. Or a industry that you may like better. Frame it in a way that you want to broaden your experience to become a better professional.
I think as an employee, you have to do the job that’s assigned to you. If the project you’re being assigned falls within your scope and job responsibilities, you can’t argue it. If you are really unhappy with it, then it would be time to start looking for a new job elsewhere.
That makes more sense. Yea, it sounds like you have a legitimate reason. I don’t like taking on things that are outside my scope but I’m happy to support after someone leaves. It should just be temporary though so it doesn’t take too much time away from my normal daily tasks.
