Restructuring culture is strong to quite strong. There’s a broad no A-hole policy in the group. On their own or counseled out, jerks don’t last long here.
The nature of the comp model is a net positive for culture in my opinion. I know that my status, my bonus, and my trajectory is up to me and my performance. Number of hours the next guy bills or how they’re performing has little impact on me..
I imagine that were our comp model to take a black box approach, subjectively variable by individual, that that would lead to a mistrust of the process and fuel feelings of unfairness. Conversely, if it were some variation of “everybody gets X% based on firm performance,” that would create resentment between high and low performers. All in all, it’s hard to argue that a fully transparent comp structure is anything other than the best approach.
We also get our bonuses right before Christmas. So that keeps wives/husbands happy.
A&M engagements that I've seen are usually very lean either way. In Europe many of them are capped in hours. In USA with chapter 11 I've heard of having to account in very detailed manner the time spent and sometimes capped too. I highly doubt anyone would risk success of engagement just to charge more hours
I’m not in restructuring but to my understanding it wouldn’t be any worse than banking is, if anything better
Buddy of mine from cs made the move to A&M. Seems to like it so far
Not toxic at all. Depending on what office you're applying to I can potentially refer.
Not in restructuring but they work hard and make the big bucks
What specifically do you mean by toxic culture?
Define toxic - like all consulting firms, I think it depends on your MD and projects.
That’s every consulting firm
