Was laid off from my job today, which is a personal first. Was there for over 18 months. It was my first full time job in the industry. Is it a logical assumption to think this is the norm?
Do you think it is quite possible to get fired by asking too many questions as an experienced senior 1? If so, i might get fired after this busy season.
So this happened. Since getting laid off I’ve been applying to every job that I believe I’m qualified for. 30 minutes after I hit send I received an email from the company stating that I did not have the right qualifications for the job. No one from the company looked at my portfolio. How do I get past the algorithm and get my work noticed by a real person?
You thought the last rounds of layoffs were bad? With continued political instability / uncertainty under Drumpf, companies will stop or slow spending on consulting and a bunch of us will get fired...
Does anyone else feel like some of the recent layoffs are premature? Especially with the President’s reopening guidelines today. I feel that agencies could of held on to employees longer.
Is it a bad idea to get a new job this period? My firm is not talking about layoffs at the moment. Has anybody moved from their somewhat secure job?
Are consulting layoffs / hiring sprees a good way to gauge the "pulse" of the economy? Is a downturn near with all these layoffs we've been hearing about?
Sr. Writer/ACD in LA laid off twice this year. Horrible luck. Previously worked at Ad Age A-List agency and trying to get back in the big game. Anomaly, TBWA, R/GA, Etc. Anyone have a lead?
I have a meeting with my HR lead on Friday regarding my termination. What questions should I ask? This is what I have so far... severance pay, health insurance benefits, PTO payout, other roles at the company, and my 401k vesting period. Anything else I should ask/bring up?
Have you or anyone you've known told your manager/partner that you don't plan to stay... and gotten fired? How bad was it?
Plural tutoring session anyone? Looking to do as a weekend job. Current target OPs are "Has there been layoffs" and "What's your thoughts" but happy to expand.
Double dipping on severance and paycheck from new job. Can former companies even find out that you have a new job if you keep quiet?
So, thoughts on starting own firm right now. Laid off and doesn't seem to be tons of firms recruiting. I think I can start off for 3k with my partner and try and kill whatever we can get.
Few people in the world make more money than Mark Reed, John Wren, Michael Roth or Arthur Sadoun. Cant they offer anything to avoid layoffs?
New C with unrelated background. Got offered a testing role but have no skills/interest in tech. Do I take it to just to get staffed or hold out? Also worried about slow downs/layoffs if benched
Got laid off today, on visa status. Wondering what options are and what do I tell places I am interviewing at ?
Big 4 🐠 here. Love consulting work but tired of the lifestyle. Anyone heard about F212, Slalom and Bridgespan?
I have a sensitive question and would appreciate sincere answers. I plan to leave my current big 4 firm upon completing 2nd year in audit. I am feeling very insecure to apply for jobs since I am a Muslim and also a southeast Asian woman. I have seen my fair share of hate speeches and discrimination which is making me think is there a truly diverse company out there where I will be safe!! Any recommendation on company names? I am searching for fund/corporate accounting/FP&A roles in NYC.
I'd appreciate any equity expectations for a senior counsel role at a late-stage start up in the Bay Area. TIA!
Hey guys, anyone pivot from FDD to Corp Dev? Got an interview with Salesforce Corpdev team and kinda excited, but I’ve heard corpdev can be where careers go to die. Any insights? Thx
1.5 years of experience, promotion would be at 2 year mark. Thoughts on accepting a slightly higher tier offer at a higher level? Will it appear like I wasn't on promotion track or something?
My most recent director told me that my time is being charged as Sr Consultant, so that’s the expectation for my performance. My title is associate, so two levels below a senior consultant. My last two appraisals have been scored against senior consultant roles, which my company has used to justify why I’m not eligible for a salary increase or promotion to consultant. Is this normal?
I'm thrilled that recruiters have reached out to me for a role I love at almost double comp. I can do/do/have done every responsibility for the role, but one part of the description gives me pause--it requires 10yrs experience in this space. I have 5.5 directly applicable and another 6 that's applicable but not often considered (I had a unique military job). And, this particular leadership role has not been common in corporate America before a couple years ago. (Cont.)
Interviewed as Technical Program Manager, is it possible to work with the recruiter to ditch the Technical round and aim for Program Manager to increase HC chance? Recruiter said that if I don't feel comfortable for the "technical" piece, then we can hold on sending packet to HC.
Is it possible for a US CPA to get a job in Southeast/East Asia (Korea, Japan, Malaysia, etc) with no prior work experience in those countries? I have B4 IM tax experience (all in the US). Possibly looking to live/work there for a few years to be closer to extended family.
Ladies, How can I support a friend going through mental health issues like anxiety and depression ? She is constantly going to her work computer even when she has nothing to do. She struggles to focus on other activities outside of work
Is 85k too much to ask for at a large NYC agency? I've been mid level for two years and I'm applying to mid level roles...
Looking for insights into / feedback on datadog. Just got pinged by a recruiter and looks like they are a pretty solid firm. Any thoughts on prospects / company culture etc. this opportunity is with their marketing team. Thanks!!
Has anyone worked for both D and ACN(consulting) that can compare the pros/cons of each? Specifically re: wlb, comp, culture, advancement
Is it a vacation if your boss emails every 10 minutes *around the clock*? Stupid me let IT install Outlook on my phone. PEOPLE. If you are in leadership, have the good sense not to email your team ‘round the clock. ESPECIALLY if your employees have been generous enough to use their personal phones to keep in touch. They need a break from work and a break from you. Every time your name pops up on their screen, it’s a micro PTSD moment. Put that shit in your outbox and send it in the morning.
A couple of us analysts started a Facebook group, we’re hosting meetings, supporting our community, being of service virtually while coronavirus is going on. Can we claim volunteer hours for this!? :)
I’m new to this bowl and to investing in general. My spouse and I have around 305k in liquid assets, no debts, no mortgage (renting), kids (all early school age, childcare expenses are minimal during wfh). 401k almost nonexistent (~15k) since only recently moved to the US but maxing out this year. HHI is about 200-205k. Would appreciate advice on investing. Cannot do individual stock (m&a at work). If invest into etf (sp500) how long would it take to hit 1M milestone? is now a good time to buy?
Hi everyone, I started as a strategy analyst 4 months ago and things have been going really well. Just had a recruiter reach out on LinkedIn wanting to place me in a strategy and ops role at a tech company... I am not interested in leaving my firm, but am curious to see my options. How do you guys play it when you get these? Just agree and say you would love to hear more? Would that look bad if it got back to your employer? Not sure what is normal
