Premium: Deloitte, PwC
Low-cost: EY, KPMG
EY has slipped closer to KPMG in past few years because of bad leadership, bad hires/promotes, bad strategic decisions, especially in Tech Consulting. Some teams’ work (like AI & Data) always rated highly by analysts but Partners have been made desperate by horrible incentive structures (and frankly a lack of skill/discipline) and cut bad deals at commodity prices then turn around and throw the work to underpaid offshore teams who deliver poor quality
Yeah that’s honestly not historically how we did things (I’ve been with the firm over 10 years). But someone somewhere got the bright idea under our last CEO to import lots of partners from Accenture and WITCH who hijacked the GTM with that crap and our brand has suffered significantly. Just a complete disregard for our delivery quality and client outcomes
We have our 4th position pretty well secured. And several measures in place to make sure that doesn’t change :-)
As they say- there is always room at the bottom 😜

They are 100% interchangeable
I’d say KPMG is the clear 4th
The other 3 can argue for pole position in certain areas and yes mostly interchangeable
They are all interchangeable. The differences are minor. The only discernible difference I’ve seen is those from Deloitte seem to have an (unearned and undeserved) arrogance.
What makes you say that
Deloitte is almost a WITCH, the only way to get to margin is to ship a large portion of the engagement to USI.
This is every big 4 if not all of consulting
I wouldn’t say we’re not not trying to become a WITCH-like body shop

Definitely nowhere near premium talent, offshore delivery doesn’t come at a very low cost either. I don’t know how these firms survive. Must be multi-year contracts that companies are too afraid to cancel.
There's more variance within one of these organizations than in between these organizations.
That’s like asking which pile of 💩 is the best
Big4 means big4. Peer competitors, no differentiation. Could be stronger here, weaker there, but doesn't matter which you choose.
I find this kind of thread funny. I am guilty of it too but what a bunch of meaningless clout chasers we are. Like fighting for Reddit points.
I've long thought McK and BCG have the biggest brands in Consulting, still do. But also only a weak moron exec who's been overpromoted would ever hire them and to justify some idea they already have. That kind of work only serves its purpose within the context of a large existing bureaucracy. If OpenAI or Anduril hires consultants, its time to sell.
They will literally staff a job with people who are smart but also aren't fully out of puberty yet who will cut and paste slides from a previous engagement they didn't even work on. I guess it beats WITCH - knowledge work as opposed to a simulation of it.
