People w/ hiring & vetting power often forget (A) how much it means for freelancers to get the basic courtesy of a response, even if it's nothing concrete, and (B) that we all remember who DOESN'T forget and shows some actual humanity. I always feel in freelance roles that they would prefer I just shut up (even though my ideas have been praised and implemented plenty), esp within my own dept.
