I have liked them so far. I like being able to control what part of the exhibit the witness sees and pointing to the relevant passage rather than having the witness shuffle through it. Plus no travel.

like

Love em.

like

I'll suffer through them if necessary, but much prefer in person. Easier to get a read on the witness, better Q&A flow, and no issues with the deponent's lack of tech savvy.

like

It depends on how important the deposition is. Important ones I’d much prefer to do in person when I was in private practice, but for non-important ones, it was just easier not to have to travel.

like

I LOATHED them at first but now love them, can’t imagine going back. It’s SOOO much more efficient and the lead time for prep is so much shorter without having to travel, print exhibits, etc.

I was recently offered a Zoom interview. The school had 10 interview slots for me to choose from. Three were one day this week and the rest are next week. I chose the first time slot available. Should I have waited until one of the last slots so I was fresher on their mind when choosing a candidate? I am just sitting here stressing out until I here something. Also, do interviewers still appreciate a hand written thank you for the interview?

Some UX Slack channels were doing well for a while but I definitely don’t see as much traction there. Meetups obviously came and went. Even the portfolio sites like Dribbble and Behance don’t seem that same.

Why are people not good at ending zoom calls? I feel like I’m always the person who throws in the closing statement (I.e, ok well sounds good is that all? Have a nice day! This was helpful thanks Karyn..looks like we’re at top of the hour already) 🤦🏻‍♀️

Generally, can you cover annual costs for a year round vacation rental or I am more likely to sink money into it with no real ROI?

Transactional associate. Lateraled 6 months ago and one of the biggest pain points has been my new firm’s inclination to “hop on a call”, which of course requires every single stakeholder to join. The end result being every call has 25 people on it and nothing actually gets done because no one wants to ask a question that could come off as silly. It’s destroying my ability to get anything done during the day. It’s a complete performance and it drives me nuts.

What do you do when you feel the goalpost has been/is being moved re: billable requirements? Like there's a spoken vs unspoken? I chose this job based on billables vs salary and what I'm being told I'm expected to do now is 20-30% (at least) > than what was initially agreed upon. Given my other life responsibilities, this is creating a huge strain & I feel like this is slowly getting harder & harder on my spouse & kids. I'm grateful to have lots of good work but not sure how to course correct.

Does anyone know how litigation finance works on the plaintiff side? If someone wanted to bring a lawsuit against their former employer would a general contingency arrangement with a plaintiff’s firm make sense? Or would one need to find funding and then contact a plaintiff’s firm to actually handle the case? I’m a transactional lawyer, so this is out of my wheelhouse.
