Did TBWA/Wildtype have layoffs??
I was in the final stages of an interview with Microsoft two weeks ago, in partner marketing. Then the recruiter told me they were putting the hiring process on hold to assess the need for the role. Well, then we heard about Microsoft layoffs last week. Seems like most were in Xbox and Project Alpha but there’s not a lot of information out there. Should I hold out any hope that I’m going to get this job? Any insights on how much these layoffs have impacted the marketing org and/or new hiring?
History of BCG layoffs anyone?

Probably. Do they have work and just don't assign it to YOU, or they just don't have anything to assign, period?
I think so. One of our staff got let go recently because he was unassigned since April
oh damn. i dont know, sometimes i get the feeling like thy do have work but just dont trust me to get stuff done and sometimes i feel like they legitimately dont have any work for me...how would i know if its the former case?
btw, teammates do delegate work to me, but its just that im not assigned to snything officially per my schedule... i was unassigned since last week of august
I would try to become seniors "go-to" person. Once they trust you and see quality work from you, they would assign you more. If I have a task to do and 5 available people, I will pick the one who made the best impression with their quality and timeliness of work.
If you are unassigned you aren't making your firm any money. If you aren't creating a profit for your firm, why would they keep you? It's like a product that won't sell, they have to lower the price or eventually just throw it away.
Sometimes I have work but I will get in trouble if I assign to others because I already broke the budget...
Lol entirely depends on your situation. I had last may/June basically all unassigned, and got promoted in July...sometimes there's simply not work
There are times I'm unassigned, but I have literally NEVER had trouble finding chargeable work when that's the case. Sometimes it's wrapping up jobs, sometimes it's prepping for upcoming jobs, and sometimes I reach out to see who I can help. I think that's the difference. You might be unassigned but you shouldn't be just sitting there hanging out. If you are, then yeah, you'll likely be let go soon unless you're in your first year and just aren't up to speed yet.
