Hi Fishes,
I recently got an offer for Cyber security advisory at PwC India . They gave a 20% hike on the current amount. Thing is that l, the technical interview told me that it is not a software/coding type of position and asked me multiple times if I was interested to do that. Is that a red flag?

Besides salary, how to pick between job offers?

I like to use Glassdoor because you can see salary ranges for your position at different agencies to get a good idea of where you should be. I also look at the range to see where you should probably be. And if there's one thing I've learned, ALWAYS negotiate. The worse they will say is no but most often, if they can't give you exactly what you want, they can usually come up at least a little more. And if you can't get more money, ask for more time off, etc. They can almost always give more time off even if they can't give you more money. Hope that helps! And good luck 😊
Can you negotiate a promotion salary increase at your current agency?
Well said! And always ask for 5-10K higher than you really want/expect.
You should always try to say the (high) number which makes you feel uncomfortable.
Thanks everyone! Very helpful.
@LeoBurnett Why not? It's always worth asking! Let me know if you hear LB/Arc lifts the hold on promotions/salary increases 😉
At razorfish I tried to negotiate and they came back with a LOWER offer than the first. Had to scratch my way back to the original offer. I was fine with the initial number but it left a horrible impression of HR/finances.
Seriously think about a range that would work for your lifestyle. And always ask for 5,000 more than the lowest you'd take. If they can't meet it, you have 5,000 to negotiate. If they still can't meet it, it's not right for you. If they can, you're good.
