Where’s the line between giving your leaders the benefit of the doubt vs this pattern is pretty dang toxic? I don’t want to leave but I’m so exhausted by the gate-keeping, the self-interest of leaders lacking any kind of employee first mentality, and the lip service of “we want to make this the best place to work.” I’m being told I’m under-utilized but when I try to bring more to the table, I’m either given empty promises or immediately dismissed. - I’m severely burnt out on trust-fails.

Knowing your own worth is number one. Holding on to try to outlive or change hearts and minds of leaders who don’t see and include or value your contribution is a waste of your energy, after a point in time. There are companies/leaders that will look at what you’ve done and value what you have to offer. It’s hard to imagine it in the thick of things, but it’s true. Go where you are wanted and make your mark. It’s a great job market.

It's toxic. It can be easy to hold on to that hope that things will change, but you've seen what you're going to get from them. And you know it's not good for you. It will take bravery to leave and move out of your comfort zone, especially if they have been trying to coerce you to stay with their empty promises. But I promise when you get out of there and find somewhere better, you'll be wishing you had done it sooner.

Sounds toxic to me. Once something becomes a pattern, especially in the workplace, it can be really hard to change without a replacement of management. It sounds like your leaders aren't interested in helping the team grow, and are more interested in self-promotion. You know what they say, fool me once shame on you, fool me twice can't put the blame on you.

Husband is doing well in his career, my son is thriving in school...Im still struggling to find a work place that i like. I been at my current employer for a year and to say the least i feel under utilized, undermined , only hired for my "optics" ( only minority in the team.. literally introduced once as the Puerto Rican HR lady). To my Deloitte colleagues: I just returned from maternity leave, and while I’m very grateful I was able to stay home with baby for 6 months I’m really anxious about returning and my utilization (50% now). Our RM is really slow and says we have a lot of new projects but hasn’t assigned me to one. I am doing trainings but not billing, and I don’t believe I’ll be staffed next week or the next either. I am a middle school social studies teacher and my husband is a high school art teacher. He has been an art teacher for a very long time and he’s not super proficient with Google classroom but I am. I just want to come here and say that I’m in a completely different mental space than I was a year ago and it feels wonderful. I’m not 100% “healed” but I’m feeling 10x better than I was last year. It sucked so badly, but I did the work to get over someone who completely broke me, and I feel content being on my own without feeling like I need a man to make me happy. I still have much more work to do, but I’m just really proud of myself for how far I’ve come. Also, meds help

SPHR exam- has anyone ever been “randomly selected” for an application audit?
