Which Big 4 has the least layoffs right now on the West Coast? If so, why? More clients, hired just enough, realistic goals, etc...?

Are BAs comparatively safer than Dev’s when it comes to layoffs?

After 10 years of working as a FTE PM/producer I’ve now been laid off (thanks Covid) and am looking to start freelancing for the first time. What advice do you have for a new freelance PM/producer?
Also, what kind of insurance do you take out as a freelancer?

I am CA FINAL student, i have done most of my internship into audit but post qualification i want to start my career into taxation( direct & international). Any suggestions or recommendation on whether any big 4 will take a fresher.

Need some advice on the following situation I am currently in:
I have an offer from PwC India and will likely get one from EY India also (similar ctc). At the same time, Cognizant is willing to match these offers. The only difference is I will be a consultant at Cognizant and a senior associate at PwC.
I understand wlb will be screwed at either of those big 4 and clients will be India based.
Which of these should I choose?

Are valuation groups of big 4 expecting mid years raises or retention bonuses?

Again posting since my last post did not got attention. Wanted to ask whether it's good to switch to big 4 India advisory role from a mid tier organization dealing in tech and ops. Additionally, they offered just very low percentage on current CTC saying that I am coming to a big brand.
Plus my current financial situation is stressful and I accepted the offer on certain conditions but now hr or the firm but saying we can't committ you. Any suggestions.

I was fired after I reported a partner for a serious (criminal) ethics violation. The firm covered it up. Are all companies like this in the end? I’ve lost my trust and don’t know how to start over.

After you are stealth laid off, other than job search, what do you do? I assume they won’t give you work and even if they do, you can politely decline? How do you feel about you are not progressing anymore and seeing other people progressing in their career? I have no intention to make partner, but still feel a bit stuck not doing that much.

Have an interview with a company I really want to work for tomorrow. My last job I was laid off b/c of an acquisition&recently accepted a job at a diff company b/c I couldnt afford not to. I got this invite shortly after. The place I’m interviewing at the job wouldn’t start til next year. I dont want to seem like a job hopper. Do i tell them I’m at a new role or just not bring it up? We have a big project going on and I am the only point person(initiate it, did lot of work, and knows the deets well), seems like my mgr wants to get a headcount. But I want to use this opportunity to get promoted, how can I get this across? Mgr is new(they fired my old mgr), mgr’s mgr is new too(re-org). So not sure if I should/can make a case, or how.

My work product is becoming worse and partners are noticing/commenting. I just hate the practice area so much that every time I am asked to do something I just get it done as quickly as possible and can’t be bothered to put in effort. I think I need to quit so I’m not fired for bad performance with a horrible reputation. Am I nuts and should I just wait til they let me go?

What is a good interview answer for leaving a job after a few months when the real reason is that you’re sleeping with one eye open in hopes of not being on the chopping block after two rounds of massive layoffs? Company culture is at an all-time low, and it will only go down from here from what I’ve seen in the short months I’ve been there.

Estimated tax payment question:
I converted $30k of rollover 401k into a Roth IRA and have $26k of realized ST Capital Gains this year (Roth conversion in end of Q1 and most capital gains in Q2).
My total federal withholding tax last year was approximately $12k and this year I will have 40% more in reported income on my employer W2 and anticipate higher that $12k federal withholding for my new job. I always bill 100% of my time and for my entire career in public accounting I have never heard anything negative until recently.. I was told to watch my time as the client doesn’t like to pay these fees, and the partner is unhappy because it looks like I have high hours. Is the message that I should eat my time?
