Lots of people saying Bain have no idea what a CDD is. No financial modeling to be done (though lots of market math!).
What skills coming out of Bain doing CDDs do you feel you have gotten? I recently interviewed with a mega PE fund for an investment position, main feedback I got was that my financial modeling skills were lacking. Not sure if doing more CDDs would help with that though

If it has to be a consulting firm - Bain. But honestly you should just buy an IB prep course if you’re not in the mood to piece meal YouTube/LinkedIn Learning together

I wouldn’t stress so much on financial modeling, but focus more on due diligence. Corp dev will be strategy work, and will likely work with bankers to do financial modeling and dive into statements. Some knowledge is obviously good but you’ll want a better understanding of synergies and how acquisitions will fair in the future
Consukting roles don’t offer financial advice. Take financial advisory, aome sort of infra advisory or feasibility assessment profiles. Most other places you’d just do cost analysis or market sizings. That won’t teach you finance. PE CDD work does not teach fin modelling.
Interestingly you still see some CDD folks jumping onto PE investing roles w/o a banker’s modeling experience.
Probably Bain
None of the firms that send consultants to PE (MBB mainly but T2 as well) will have you do financial modeling. People who make the switch have to prepare on their own.
good to know. seems like I'm in the wrong career haha
