Which firms actually have good culture about taking time off? Also offering billable hours granted for vacation or other types of perks. How many weeks off a year can you take without raising too many eyebrows?

I take pretty insane vacations. No issues. Cleary. Fifth year.

Also at Cleary. Almost never have had to work on vacation. However, I imagine this is really more team specific than firm specific.

Took 10 weeks off all last year. No issues. Sidley

Billed only 1810 but made bonus requirement of 2000 hr with pro bono and other bonus eligible credit hours that sidley counts such as attending diversity stuff

If you make hours, no one should complain about taking time off.

Y’all have unlimited vacation?

Hope it’s a long one!

I think Shepp offers up to a week of billable credit

Pretty solid- is the bonus requirement 2000?

Really looking for a way to turn around a toxic building culture with staff to staff bullying, cliques/social isolation, hard feelings on big topics (racism, non acceptance of gender identity). Last year the staff polarized with the lead bully whom I helped leave. And the lead gossip (who was my secretary) that gained their sympathy and turned them against me. She also left. Now I need to regain trust and eliminate unacceptable teacher behaviors. Open to any and all advice.

How many of you biglaw associates are on your grind trying to recruit people to earn a big referral bonus? I’m treating it like a side gig. Ironic that my firm does not give associates any kind of origination credit. If they took the same philosophy with business development, I would direct my efforts there too.!

Are there any books or other resources that mid levels/seniors/counsel/partners on here have found helpful for the project management / managing junior attorney aspects of your job?

I am not finding a lot of stuff written for lawyers specifically , but there is a lot directed at “managers” in business generally that I imagine could be applicable.
