Got a random email from a supposed Amazon recruiter for a SDE position (which is not at all a fit). The email is amazon.com domain and there are no red flags in the body but it doesn't feel like an Amazon recruiter due to the tacky signature, etc. Has anyone seen this kind of cold-calling from FAANG recruiter?

We might all be laying off folks, but I can speak to KPMG's hiring culture being less aggressive and based on actual "won" work in the pipeline. Other b4 will hire people expecting a huge pipeline and their folks will be screwed on the bench if it doesn't come into fruition.
We've had lay offs in MC OP! But not nearly as close as the others. Not even close. Maybe like 1-2% workforce
If what K2 is saying is true then it kind of makes sense. KPMG is a small fringe player with very low growth anyways, coupled with their less aggressive hiring they might not have lot of ppl to lose. Better tag the people who had to be let go as underperforming, coz you know KPMG hires only the STARS. 😂
Note - love that K ppl drank the reworded kool-aid and are up in arms when someone calls it a layoff.
There is lot of cut back on spending across industries and all the consulting firms hired with aggressive projections. So there have been cut backs, when @K1 says there were no lay off, he / she is living in the lala land.
K - you're not just laying off under performers. You're also losing ppl that might need an extra year to make next level and in some cases you are losing solid ppl because pipeline is too soft. Many of our initial layoffs were the same way. We just had larger numbers than you. But our counseling when it hasn't been done for years at more than a few is a layoff. Whatever Lynne has told you is nice. At the end of the day, our clients are all cutting back and nobody is safe.
Our counseling = out counseling
KPMG is not without its own signs of trouble lately, but we haven't had any layoffs (yet). At least as far as I know.
I know a friend in KPMG banking and capital markets who got laid off.
ARGH this again. @EY1 your friend lied they were let go/fired. We did not have lay offs
May be you are right. but this was off performance cycle.
@k - call it counseling out, etc. it is a targeted layoff. K can be more strategic at this time than the other firms due to its size. But at the end of the day, we've all had layoffs throughout all of our organizations. Some targeted. Some just en mass.
No need for this bickering - it's unnecessary and certainly not answering my question. I'm not looking to start a riot, just want insight on what's really going on around town with all of our firms
They're all laying off.
Letting people go for underperforming is not a lay off. Sure we probably would have floated them for longer if times were better but all the people who let got/counseled out were under performers. Which I am told is not the same with the other big4 that actually have industry layoffs and have let some good people go because of it.
^idiot. For some reason you always feel better about yourself trumping others (pun intended). Your low self esteem is too obvious.
Hello! I didn't abuse anyone nor did I call anyone names. All I was trying to say is all firms are the same. In this case I do know a very close friend of mine who was getting laid off. But he was called an under performer, but the truth is he is been with the firm for over 5 years, so I won't buy under performer theory.
^ No P then. Apologies
