Hey! Any Google folks know if it’s possible to negotiate fully remote if a contract role is hybrid? Personally, I don’t want to relocate and go to the office on a contract role given the current economy. Plus, I’m assuming contractors are the first to go in layoffs. I just think it’s a fair trade off if I’d be allowed to work fully remote. I’m also trying to have flexibility to manage my Airbnb business in a different country. Same time zone as the home office if I’d travel weeks at a time.

Do it! I did my first solo trip when I was 24, went to the Philippines for 2 months. I am now 33 and have been on many solo trips in Central America, South America, Asia, Europe, and East Africa. If you are female (like me), just make sure to do your research regarding safety in whichever country you're going to. I also highly recommend staying in hostels, it's a great way to meet other like-minded solo travellers.
Edit: Everyone should do safety research, but solo travel is typically more dangerous for women, LGBTQIA+ folks, and POCs. ❤️
I usually book a cheap hostel to meet people and then an Airbnb or hotel for comfort.
I appreciate the rhyme but feel compelled to point out that Pringles are very group oriented. That's why the fun don't stop once you pop. Just FYI.
And traveling solo is awesome. Lived in another country for a year by myself and it was so freeing - I would actually recommend going it without a planner just to give yourself the flexibility to be totally unpredictable and respond to how you feel each day.
This is the way

All the time.
Yep! Been to over 60 countries, about half of them solo. I actually prefer solo travel, you get to interact with locals on a much more genuine level

I am doing one in a month! 2.5 weeks in Thailand. Planning it all myself. I am really excited!
I’ve traveled solo and stayed at hostels (pre-big law). If you want to find people to hang out with, you don’t even need to stay there - just find a hostel with a bar nearby and there will be plenty of others looking for the same.
Definitely go!! It’s very relaxing. I’m not so brave so I just go to the Caribbean solo. Take a couple novels. Beach all day, try out different restaurants at night. Can’t go wrong.
Same!
I travel solo all the time. I generally go alone and then do either free walking tours in the various cities or book day tours through Viator. For some destinations in Africa, I’ve joined organized tours that are a mix of other solo travelers and couples. If you want to start with the group trip route, check out companies like Intrepid, G Adventures, FlashPack, etc.
I agree with C1! I’ve done solo travel quite a bit and always booked through a third party. The only agency that I did not like was Trafalgar.
Omg yes!! I love solo vacations. I give myself little retreat at least once a year.
I like to rent a cottage or cabin in a gorgeous rural area (ex near Yosemite etc) and take books, water colors, a journal, candles, cook myself good meals and go hiking
Fully support. Be ready to eat a few meals alone, but the best part is you do exactly what you want to do each day. Kinda like going to a music festival solo and seeing all your fav acts, instead of following friends/crowds. Have a “check in” buddy back home for safety, and maybe do the same at your hostel/motel/etc.
Highly recommend a phone tether, pickpockets are going wild post-pandemic, and nothing worse than losing phone in foreign country. $7 well spent.
I have. Loved the experience!
Planned myself. Part of my bar trip + hiking trip out west (I'm in NY). Depends on where you're going and the experience you're looking for. If you go to Europe as a solo traveler - easy to meet other travelers and mingle. On a hiking trip to a national park - it's a bit tougher to meet people other than passersby on trails and stuff

I will be doing one.
Yes. The most relaxing
I want to do a solo trip so bad!
