Bain & Company Fishes, I wonder if you have suggestion on office selection, I am finishing my dual degree(advanced degree and applying for post MBA level job) next year and now applying for consulting roles in the states. I have never been to the states and will only arrive on campus in Fall. I am keen on Seattle and SF offices but I have no affiliation or experience there. Any suggestions? I worked at D and came in as an experienced hire. There is absolutely a culture of superiority and if you didn't do it there, it doesn't count. I used to joke that if one cured cancer in a prior life, it was irrelevant - you didn't do it at D and your prior skills were irrelevant.
D2 kind of summed up the attitude that irks people. That said, coming out of undergrad, they paid the highest out of the Big 5 (Anderson/Accenture), they provided the most extensive training program for new hires, and they had the best MBA program.
Deloitte never left consulting but Deloitte is a different member firm than its tax/audit/advisory practice. The other big 4 firms have been back in now for well over 6 years which is enough time to get some of the basics in place like keeping your email from going down for days at a time.
The other Big 4 will keep lagging behind until they operate as a consulting firm instead of a tax/audit firm with a consulting practice.
I thought PWC was there but reading comments here, it sounds like there might be some turds in that punch bowl.
KPMG is opening a new training centers which is a great sign of investing in their people and you don't hear a lot of negativity out of them on here.
Does it? Seems everyone here is hating on PWC currently
It's the annual "everyone hates Pwc" period. It occurs at the end of the review cycle. It will pass and we can go back to focussing on Deloitte.
When I was in business school and doing campus recruiting with consulting firms, everyone Deloitte sent to campus as a Rep was such a fucking asshole
Because Delloitte consultants have a tendency to come across as arrogant and selfish. Have friends who love it there and others that could not bear it more than 1 year.
^ it will be close once then others are rebuilt. Deloitte is just reaping the benefits of not selling their consulting arm back in the day
I blame S&O.
They are the best Big 4 firm and it isn't close, but they serve Kool Aid at DU and their consultants are more full of themselves
I work for deloitte and this makes me sad. There are some arrogant assholes here, but I've also met some amazing people who I love. Let's stop stereotyping entire firms and realize that there are good and bad eggs everywhere. This is like sorority rush where 5 people in a house set the tone and no one gets to know anyone else based off of what's already known to be a stereotype. Keep an open mind and judge people by who they are as an individual. I sound cheesy and all, but I wish people would do that.
Deloitte has a bad culture reputation on FB. I'm not sure what's been said about PwC on here.
Because their consultants haven't come to grips that they work for an accounting firm just like the rest of big 4 folks
Because others are jealous of Deloitte consultants getting $500 #watercolor talk
Because they don't give a damn about others!!.. they r selfish and arrogant..
@P2: You really think in a >10,000 person consulting practice, we don't have different cultures? 🙄
Pretentious and upitty.
Those that said they turned down the offer due to culture probably didn't get the offer
@D1 whoever u blame , it's still D... 🤷♀️
@C2 not saying every apple is bad but 95% of the people who work there come across as douches. Wouldn't expect you to like that but it's the perception. And perception is ...
@A3: I hope you appreciate the irony...
I ask because many of us in non-S&O service areas also get that attitude from our strategy consultants
