We used to... then we learned to stop worrying and love Teams /s
We use it for internal comms, then keep client work on Teams/Skype for security. I'm dreading the day it's taken away - it's fantastic for camaraderie (that giphy integration is key) and broad knowledge sharing.
Slack is just as secure as office 365, and probably more secure than whatever chat app is internally hosted in someone's data center. We use a lot of it here at Booz.
Cost and security risks
Well, free Slack was fine for water cooler talk and non-client-specific knowledge sharing (and it was actually significantly better at this than any alternatives). They tried using paid Slack to manage the security risks for client work but that was expensive so they were loathe to add people to the instance; that meant most teams weren’t entirely on Slack so people went back to the free Slack for project work, which defeated the entire point of getting the paid one. No wonder the experiment “failed”. And then of course even if no confidential information is being discussed the free Slack had to go too, because it’s dangerous ofc. Now we lose out on the KT and camaraderie-building aspects of Slack and get to live in Teams instead.
