I have been shortlisted for AC role and my HR discussion is scheduled next week.
1. Need some insights on the maximum and minimum ctc (fixed and variable) that can be offered for 3 yoe (all relevant) . My current ctc is 7.2 (6.5 fixed) . Tech stack - Big data and AWS developer.
2. Is there any joining bonus. If yes , what should be the ask.
Any inputs will be very helpful for me to go with my expectations to the HR. Thanks!

I got a remote L6 SWE offer at Google but the RSUs are too low for that level ($625k over 4 years), could not negotiate it higher. I’ve accepted the offer but trying to be hopeful that I could make it more equitable in the future if I perform well. Literally everyone at Google is in the same position. There are no accommodations. This has been policy for years at this point.
I don’t like it. I don’t agree with it. However, it’s widely known and accepted. Why did you think that you would be the exception to the rule everyone else is held to?
Temporary ones are. Permanent? No, but of course that's going to be a way higher bar...
Laid off and found a new role advertising remote internally, passed interview went to change teams and HR blocked any remote opportunity. Said it was an error and I needed to be in office. Find a new job they wont budge.
I know someone who managed to get that from the Bay Area to the South due to mental health. 6 months. IDK how they pulled it off.

I think it's the timing. during COVID and years following, remote work was accepted and accommodated. Since the Return of Office campaign that started last year (ish) seems to be now in full swing. It is now return to office is mandatory with at least 3 says a week in the office. Google has also been offering voluntary exit to along with this mandatory return to office.
