I’ve been approached my by company that one of our large clients (who im currently project managing for) is looking for a consultant of sorts, and if they hire us, I’d be the first person asked to take on this consultant role. This isn’t something my company typically offers and would greatly change the scope of my role. Has anyone ever taken on a role like this? If so, were you able to negotiate a percentage of the consulting fee? Or was it a bump in salary during the project?

I have not been on a project for over 3 months. Since I joined, I have been put in training. The training got extended by a month and now it's close to 4 months since I joined and without a project.

What should I do? People say that I'm lucky to get paid without doing any work, but it is stressing me out. I need the experience. The uncertainty is freaking me out, with rumours of layoffs and the certification program and all.

How do I get into a project? How long do I have to wait more?

I recently joined Capgemini at 13.5 LPA along with 1 lakh as joining bonus. It was a jump from 6.5 and I have 4 YOE with 2 yrs in React JS
Two questions that's been bothering me -

Did I settle for less as I can see people taking even bigger jumps with less experience?

My joining date was 15 September, so am I eligible for upcoming appraisal as the annual review is due by October 14 and I have just joined a project?

Please share your insights as I have looked for advice everywhere else.

My total experience is 5 in QA, I attended Deloitte interview. First round was technical and it went quite well, they asked lot of theory questions. I answered few and quite I was not sure of answers. She gave feedback like my communication and confidence level is good and project wise I'm having good knowledge and coming to concept wise it's not upto the mark for experience. Hey guys… I’m a case worker in child safety and I’m someone who loves being outdoors/dies at a desk all day. I’m hoping to organise that at least once a week I can go to a cafe and catch up on all my case notes that need to go into the system.

How do PPMDs make sure when you are replacing an incumbent, you don't get handed down a broken system ? What sort of knowledge transfer and contractual framework do you get the client to agree to and how do you negotiate on that? I feel clients are not always honest and hide a lot of landmines which a consulting company can walk into and blamed for it.

Higher offers at 27-28 with more fixed pay is from contract and hire/fire type companies. Mostly indirect hiring instead of direct employment with the final employer, means higher pay with lower jon security - we get little more pay, companies get the option to let go with ease later!
