I love my team and the work associated with it but I’m coming up on two years in my role and would like to explore other opportunities within the bank. How do I approach my wanting to seek out internal opportunities with my boss? If I want to start applying, should I speak to my boss first or apply first and then bring it up if I get picked to move forward? I have a great working relationship with my boss but I’m not sure about timing right now.

I got to where I am now (3 yrs out of a non-target college) at a small fund management firm by a combination of networking and good interviewing. I went on LinkedIn just to explore and reality hit that I am not qualified for anything other than what I do for this company specifically. Anyone else feel cornered? FinTech has outskilled mid-entry level folks like me. I don’t have enough experience for exposure to the tech/skills they want and I can’t take a pay cut to back to college entry level..

I applied to an internal position 3 weeks ago. I followed up with the recruiter a few days ago who advised they were still sorting through applications. When I went to check the status today, they reposted the job listing which had expired last week. Any suggestions on what should I do? Simply wait it out and hope I get an interview? Feeling a little defeated

Applied for a role at a FinTech company and went through four rounds of interviews, which all went well and got me excited about the opportunity. My last interview was 2 weeks ago, and I have not heard back from the recruiter, and usually they would reply to me within two business days letting me know that I would have another upcoming interview. I have emailed the recruiter twice now asking politely about any next steps. I’m afraid I’m behind ghosted, any advice on what to do?

Hi all, I work 52-55 hours a week (soon to be more). I’ve been at my company 4 months and am now the only member in all of operations as of two weeks ago (barely trained). I make 70k+15-20% bonus in Manhattan (which seems low). Is it reasonable to ask for a raise considering I will be the only member until at least end of June as per my boss? Or would It be reasonable to interview elsewhere and take advantage of the employees market that we are in? Any advice helps. Thank you.

Any feedback on the Early Careers roles at Goldman Sachs? Did you have to do a prerecorded interview?

Some context... I interviewed for an experience FP&A/strategy role at a late stage startup. I received this reply the morning-after my final interview with them.

Started a new role a few months ago, it’s not the right fit and I’m looking to leave. I’ve been interviewing elsewhere but struggling to find the time to prepare for interviews and just not in the right headspace so haven’t been doing as well as I would like to. Anyone else have left a toxic role without something lined up?

Do companies typically reach out to you after finishing the interview process or is it more common to never hear anything again? I feel like the professional thing to do is to let everyone know they’re moving forward with another candidate but no one seems to do that.

Do you feel like when you interview with a company they’re honest about what it’s actually like to work there? I just had an interview where they were raving about company culture and team dynamics, but I looked them up online and reviews said the opposite.

Does anyone have any experience working in an office on the smaller side? I’ve really only been a part of larger companies with big corporate offices but I’ve been interviewing with a company that’s basically the exact opposite. I feel like it could be good for my career but I don’t want to make the wrong decision.

Curious as to what the longest period of time everyone has spent interviewing for a position is. I have a friend who once spent two months going back and forth with a company and the final offer wasn’t even close to the amount of effort he put in.

I have reason to believe my current employer is aware I am interviewing elsewhere. Should I be worried? I am confident they can’t fire me but can they retaliate in other ways (other than bullying etc)? For context, I’m very junior, had a fairly major fallout over compensation and made up my mind on leaving (for this and other reasons) but everyone incl. myself has been playing it cool since then as if nothing happened - what to make of it?

After you finished a interview how long did it took till you received feedback from HR? How long should one wait to move on if none was given ?

I’m having the hardest time securing a job interview right now. Is there something wrong with me or is the job market just not as open as everyone’s saying it is? I don’t have the most impressive resume in the world but I do have some experience…

I’ve been interviewing with a company for a couple of weeks now and they sent me an offer that’s $50k more than what I’m making right now. I looked them up online and there are tons of reviews from previous and current employees saying that management is toxic and WLB is nonexistent. Do I ignore these warnings and hope things have changed or do I pass on the offer?

I applied for a position with Goldman Sachs for a fairly new role that seems like a great opportunity for me. I think the interview went really well and both interviewers seemed to like the responses I gave and I know I’m well qualified with my experience. My recruiter emailed me saying the managers have discussed my interview and “they want to wait a couple days before making a decision” does this seem like a good sign or a bad sign?

Current Finance PM in Tech (BI/Analytics) that’s looking to move to consulting. Three major firms (KPMG, EY, Cognizant) are interviewing me currently but they’re all consistently saying the TC is 110-130k. Can someone confirm?

Hey all, can someone explain to me what a data research analyst does at an IB in nyc. What is the work like, would this be a back office type of role? What is the wlb like? Interview is tomorrow and the job description is very vague.

I am in this dilemma! I recently joined this firm one year ago and basically worked more than 50 hours a week getting them out the mud. I was promised if my review went well I would receive a generous bonus… I recently received my bonus and let’s just say it’s half what I receive a check. I have been getting contacted for interviews but feel leaving a year in is a bit soon. Mine you these offers are 20-40% increase. I know most people will jump ship but you know what they say it’s a small world!

What should you do if you get an offer for little more than you are already making? Been going through a 1.5 month interview process for large RE brokerage company, even told them how much I’m currently making (yes, I know, a mistake) and they only offered total comp 4% greater than I already make. I was thinking that for an external move, it should be closer to 20%. Suggestions for negotiating around this that doesn’t spook them?

Do you ever include personal achievements on your resume or do you keep things strictly professional? I’ve been reviewing some resumes for an opening on my team and I noticed one person has a marathon they completed on their resume. Not going to lie, it intrigued me and made me want to interview them because it was a way to stand out without being over the top.

Offer to join PE BD role in Texas for with TC of $375K before carry. Interviewers seemed confused as to why I was interviewing for BD role vs execution. Non-banking background but have execution experience as well as strategy consulting.
