Thoughts on exits to Palo Alto Networks? Role is marketing strategy and operations lead. Not much out there on salary expectations for this position, but currently I’m a consultant from a top 20 MBA with 5 YOE.

I am looking for some advice. Currently Senior consultant, 4.5 YOE. Up for promo EOY or mid year 2021. No MBA yet but BSc in Finance from decent business school. Background includes project management, reporting , risk and registered as an investment advisor. I want to get out of Consulting and work for a tech firm not FAANG necessarily but in a program management or project management role. What’s the best strategy to make the shift?

I want to exit into an operations role and set myself up to eventually be a COO one day. What skills should I try to develop as a consultant, and what roles should I be looking for when I exit?

GRE or GMAT? I didn’t take many quant classes (Econ major: econometrics, math classes and stats - 3/4 I got Bs in). Took the GMAT once and scored a 670 and just struggle at cracking the test, and have been thinking of switching to the GRE because it’s easier, but I’m worried my lackluster quant background isn’t a good look.

Other stats: 3.6 from T20 State School (UCLA/Michigan/UVA), consultant, then chief of staff role at mid-size tech company, and now in strategy at brand name startup

Wonder what does implementation role in MBB do? Noticed a few position opening called implementation consultant, not sure what skill set/background they look for and what’s the daily work like... wonder whether will get stuck on one project for years or get caught up by the politics in big companies and spend loads of hours to handle it..

How to start for tech (FAANG + Large companies with visa sponsorship) interviews for MBA? I know it is a vague question but I am looking for a starting position to start prepare for PMM roles as well as Strategy and other ex-consultant roles in tech. Question from a 1st year consultant: What certifications do you have? Did it have any effect on your career (e.g new role, pay increase, movement to different company, etc)?

I work as an implementation consultant and my work is highly industry specific, utility billing for municipalities generally less than 20k accts. My position does not require any technical knowledge, only that I know the software well. As I look for other jobs (more just curious and not actively applying) I see that I am not a fit for much out there. I have no technical skills to accompany my IT degree because it’s been so long since I touched SQL. Have I siloed myself? Cont in comments.

I received an offer for 30k more than I’m making now at Deloitte for Cyber Risk.. what’s the main reason Advisory is a bad choice? Is a Senior Consultant role in this practice a bad place to be from a career growth perspective? I don’t understand the practice structure and am unsure if I’m being misled. I also don’t want to be doing only security assessments, if that’s what the work is like. 😅

I think I’m pretty underpaid so thinking of asking for a ~20% raise at my annual review. Currently at a boutique firm making 90k base and 5%bonus, 5 YEO (3 industry, 1 as software consultant, 1 in my current role as a senior consultant), Top ranked specialty MS degree, MCOL city. Is this a reasonable request? Going to bring in some “market research” aka Glassdoor screenshots. Any other advice?

Tech consultant that just landed an AWS SA L5 role @ 160k base and 1st year TC of ~210k in the NE. Obviously super excited for the possibility of exiting to FAANG but slightly dampened by the fact the tc will be basically flat from where I am... and lower than my base - they wouldn’t budge on the overall number unfortunately. I was expecting something around 225ish based on blind/fishbowl/levelsfyi but no dice. Is it a decent offer? Am I splitting hairs here?

Really want to exit but salary seems to be an issue, and also don’t know if I’m too much of a generalist at this point. I have 8 years of strategy consultant experience (no MBA). Would like to make at least 200k- any job suggestions?? Open to near anything except investment banking :)
