Long story short: I work for a small healthcare consulting firm. Since COVID, I was going to the office once a week, every Wednesday. Today, I have put on my 2 weeks because I accepted an offer from a big 4. During my last 2 weeks, I had planned to see my family for the first week, and go to the office on my final week. Also today, my boss asks me to come in the office everyday next week. Should I say I don’t feel comfortable and just don’t go?What’s the worst it happen? Get fired lol

My day has arrived. Today, I, a Tech Advisory Consultant, was smacked by a surprise afternoon layoff call. I was assured my PA review was nowhere near bottom 5%, but the machine of Accenture has inscrutable ways of determining High Performance.

Well...have been reading the many posts about all of the people being laid off from Accenture and today I was one of them. I don't know if it was a layoff or a firing. I'm speechless. I've only been here a little over 2 years. Never heard a peep about my performance lacking. Not going to lie, I'm freaking out. I NEED to work.

I just got laid off, I’m not ready to leave Consulting. What should I do now?

I’m struggling at work with illness. The issue is I don’t want to get fired, and I know FMLA only applies to people who’ve been at their firm at least a year.

Is there anything those of us who have under a year can do to take a leave without potentially being fired over it?

Left my consulting job after 2.25 years in October 2019 for a venture backed startup. Laid off in March 2020. Joined a VC fund as an intern shorty after, but our fundraise (for our fund) got pushed back.

Getting a bit discouraged. My entire team was laid off from COVID. I was in my final TS/SCI with Full Scope Poly (almost a 3 year process). Pretty sure it's a loss of jurisdiction at this point. Advice from recruiters needed on explaining second unemployment period due to 2 layoffs in 4 years. The first time I set up a small biz which did minimal business. In consulting, for non-layoffs, is it common for people to be let go outside of the mid-year or annual review process?

For example, someone just is considered bad and they get rid of him/her at a random time, or generally they wait until the next review cycle to log their next reviews and get rid of the person along with others who also performed poorly at that time?

My roommate was fired from a boutique today, for “performance” (read: COVID) after 1.5 YOE. He is convinced that his career will never get back on track/recover (at 23). Is this true?

I have a teammate that complains about everything! If it’s not the work, it’s our manage, the company, projects, networking, layoffs, how he never got promoted, bonuses, etc. it basically drains me and it’s beyond annoying. It’s even worse now that we’re virtual because he’ll complain to me about that too.People have started asking/complaining to me about him, and all I’ll say is that he’s a nice person but I don’t enjoy working with him. Is that bad?

I just want to shout out to my Deloitte brothers/sisters who were laid off without any explanation. Working with an ex Deloitter, he is very impressive, not sure why D laid him off.

Anyone recently get an offer from Guidehouse? (Most likely getting an offer as a SC) 6.5 YOE, Secret clearance, 1.5 years a Deloitte. Seeing mixed reviews but recently got laid off so beggars can't be choosers. What range is okay to negotiate and can I try to go for Managing Consultant? Currently at 120K.
