How are the responsibilities of a senior consultant differ from that of a staff consultant at EY? For some context, I received an offer at EY at the senior consultant level, but I was a consultant at Deloitte (before getting laid off due to COVID). Any perspective from EY / Deloitte colleagues would be very helpful. Thanks!

So both the coronavirus and layoffs seem like such abstract concepts to me. I know that people are dying and losing their jobs, but I can't name a single person that has been affected in either of these ways.

I am a client and a consultant working with us is condescending and rude towards me. I want to say something but I don’t want him to get fired - especially in this job climate with his newborn.

Just got laid off due to COVID cuts, I have a background in typical brand strategy/project support/market strategy consulting work, so not a ton of professional experience but was described as a rockstar by supervisors/mentors. What can I do during this down time to stay busy? Looking at classes in PM. Happy to volunteer consulting work as well. Just want to keep the brain active - would rather work for free/cheap in the same realm than not

Been out of work for about a year now, been interviewing and actively since being laid off due to companys budget cut. Was in final / decision rounds before covid and everything has been tbd or rescinded since. Responses have been few and far in between and now the year gap is becoming a concern.

Would like to ask if anyone has tips or can point me in the right direction. I come from a management consulting/prod mgt background in tech. Disregard the risk consultant title.

Everyone was speaking badly about Deloitte in regards to layoffs. At least some people from EY even said they were happy they were at EY and not Deloitte because of the layoffs.

Then EY started laying people off. Where did this end up? Is Deloitte still the worst in regards to these pandemic layoffs, or did EY surpass them now? Or are they about the same?

If you know you’re leaving in 5 months for new job, can you slowly do less work to get severance?

9 weeks after being laid off ... I got an offer today that far surpasses everything I’ve hoped for in consulting... low travel, no utilization worries and no sales bogey. I’m glad I kept my tech skills up.

So I'm not close with my dad but I found out he has cancer 2 weeks ago. I'm not the type to share really personal things at work because I know I'll get emotional. I have close co-workers that I want to but also don't want to tell and I haven't told my boss yet. I have major deadlines coming up and I'm cleaning up a laid off co-workers mess so I am incredibly stressed out. Wanna take a vacation for my own mental health but feel guilty b/c that means less family time and missing deadlines.

I feel like I’m in the twilight zone seeing all this turnover/layoffs and practitioners firm jumping

Let go recently, but last day isn't until Friday. Have a call with a hiring manager this week when I'm sure I'll be asked why I'm leaving consulting. Should I mention that I was laid off? That's not why I'm looking (started before), but also don't want to appear as though I'm hiding that information as it would eventually come out when I have to report my dates of employment.

After getting laid off due to Covid I got a nice job in industry, jumped a few titles and got a nice raise in salary. I like the new job because it’s less demanding than consulting, but also don’t like it because often times I’m bored - anyone else experience this? I also think I’ll be able to create my own projects in the next couple months too so I’ll be able to fix the bored issue

So I've read quite a few comments regarding race based discrimination in the layoff process at EY and Deloitte. This can't possibly be true though right?

I know it’s wrong but I really wish I got laid off so I can focus on upskilling and finding a job I enjoy.

Anybody else think next year is going to be worse for layoffs than this year? A lot of clients are setting up their 2021 budgets and allocating very little for capital projects. Seems like next year will be extremely light since customers aren’t spending as much. Hence more layoffs in consulting.

Got laid off on Monday. Felt okay at first, but now feel inadequate and useless since Julie Sweet mentioned the 25K that Accenture laid off were low performers. I know I wasn’t a poor performer, I got dinged for not doing enough projects in my practice, but still go top reviews for my projects. Just want to vent.
