Hey Fishbowl,

I’m a second year student at a T25, and I was wondering whether I should take a Fortune 200 Internship in Finance or take a T2 Consulting Internship in India. I want to ultimately work in MBB/T2 in the US post grad!

Llooking to get into MC and have been reviewing different ex-MBB career coaches due to my non-traditional resume/ background. Have been looking at coaches from prep lounge and join leland. Noticed almost all coaches are located over seas. Wondering if:

(1) Will their coaching be relevant to someone looking at a domestic office?

(2) Why are they all over seas? I'd assume some ex-MBB US based coaches would be there also

(3) Anyone have experience with ex-MBB career coaches?

I am a new joiner from industry, just started in MBB. Why is everybody so intense? Everyone is on keeno or hardo mode at all times. Everyone at my old job (a place known for its intense work environment) worked really hard too, but we did less verbal opining about the problem and more fixing. Is this a universal consulting thing? How can I come across as more intense? My calm attitude is sometimes mistaken for lack of care.

Applied to an mbb, i dont know who the recruiting manager is for the job i applied to. Its been 1month since application and no word. I think its time to check in on the timeline. Any idea how to find the recruiting manager?

Should you prep for MBB case interviews even though you haven’t even been invited for one yet?

I have a PharmD and have just completed an additional MsC in Business & Management. My long-term goal is to join an MBB but I didn't get the chance to go through the screening this year.

I am thinking of 2 options for now:

Join a "top 2" (O.Wyman, R.Berger, Kearney). It would allow me to develop a more generalist profile.
Join a specialised firm in LFS (LEK, ZS, CRA) to develop a strong expertise in LFS.

What would be most recognised by the MBBs in the long term?

I recently started T2 consulting after M7 MBA. Over the past few weeks I’ve been reached out by a few MBB recruiters. Having been on FB a while, I feel like everyone would say I should definitely interview. But is it really worth it? I just started T2 so don’t want to burn a bridge just yet, and don’t hate my life (team is nice, good benefits, less egos to deal with, wlb is decent right now). Am I being dumb for telling them I’m not interested right now?

Stupid and vulnerable question here. Been in this 7 years and I’ve constantly been told I’m some sort of all star and yes I’ve done quite well for myself. I’m not exaggerating either - constantly told I have a ton of potential. I know, cringe. But here’s the thing-I’ve worked mid tier and boutique but not big 5 or mbb. I haven’t passed interviews and have a hard time getting interviews at these places other than recruiters reaching out. Am I a failure if I never get in one of those places?

The total comp of a manager at my firm doesn't even match the base salary of an incoming MBA at MBB/T2 firms. And my wlb still just isn't much to speak of.

Boutique is not the way, people.

Can you keep your MBB (management consultancy ) job after having kids or who have toddlers? Especially for women? How do you manage 9-9 work hours?

In MBB / T2 market in SEA what would be the net take home ( in USD post tax w/o adjusting to cost of living) relatively to each other . My sense is that if we take Singapore of index of 100% of net income for the level than:
1) Indonesia 70%
2) Malaysia 80%
3) Thailand 75%
4) Philippines 65%

Any consultant here who has worked at Citadel or knows someone who is working at Citadel? A recruiter from there reached out to me today, and I got the sense that the culture there is more intense compared to consulting. How would you compare Citadel vs MBB on the below points:

a) Culture
b) Diversity (I am an international student and a person of color, and my sense is that Citadel is not as international)
c) Comp trajectory

Does anyone have experience deferring an MBB offer? Received an offer for a February 2023 start date but got into my dream masters program, which means if I enroll I’d graduate the summer of 2024. Is it possible to finish my degree and join?

Recruiting on campus for MBB in EMEA. Any idea whether interviewing Q4 22 or Q1 23 makes any difference (EOY hiring targets vs. economic situation next year). Recruiting is year round for my geography.

How are the tech layoffs + market affecting mbb hiring?

Is B4 consulting even attractive to top talent students anymore? The pay is far less than MBB, let alone tech and IB, and the exit is also not as good as other firms

Hows the health insurance coverage at Kearney? Is it as good as MBB?

MBB folks - I’d like to try to make the jump to one of the MBBs in 2023. have a BS (Eng) non target, MS (Eng) target, MBA non target, 8YOE. Have operations background and currently working doing ops strategy at Accenture as a Manager. I am very rusty with cases so need to practice. I have the following questions: 1. How many hours of case prep would you recommend I do to be successful? 2. Is a looming recession a good time to make the jump? 3. Should I expect to be down leveled? 4. Referral pls!

Is it crazy if I exit big 4 (non strategy) right after graduating with an MBA after 10 YOE and go to MBB or similar to do strategy work? Is it taking steps back?
