How has senior associate to manager promotion pay bumps compared to prior years? I’ve heard it’s generally a 20-25% salary bump (and the best bump you’ll receive before partner). What have people seen in the COVID environment and is 20-25% accurate?

Does the pressure to bill increase or decrease when you transition from associate to non-equity partner? (I’m asking specifically about pressure from the firm, not the pressure that comes from having your comp tied directly to your collections.)

Which consulting firms allow you to gain equity (options, RSUs, discounted stock, etc) as a part of compensation before making partner? I know ACN does.

What is Big4 Partner comp like in the UK? I know that consulting comp for staff grades is generally 40-60% lower than the US. Wonder if it translates to equity-owning grades

BCG 🐠.. can anyone tell me the difference between “Associate Director” and “Partner & Associate Director” compensation? Expecting an offer soon but looking at glass door Associate Director may not cut it so may need to have a level conversation unless the band is very wide.. willing to walk away if AD doesn’t cut it as I have good prospects at my current firm but would be good to understand what I should ask for (more money @ AD or for them to consider a higher level)..

I have an opportunity to move from an AmLaw 20 firm I am really enjoying to a top 5 firm that would essentially double my compensation. Very conflicted. Thoughts? Some important context (I regularly bill 2100 hours a year and am fine with it but this is kind of my ceiling for sanity. I am a dad of two and a husband and the only one currently making income, I don’t particularly care if I am ultimately a well-paid service partner or of counsel and I’m a white collar/comm lit associate (3rd year)

Do you negotiate salary as a AD/CW team or individually? This is my first time jumping ship with a partner, we've talked about it between us, I definitely lean towards a higher number than my partner. Wondering if we should work it out between us or go in separately. Thanks.

I’m stressed about starting my new job. I’m at 2.5 YOE in consulting and wanted to leave because of salary. I’m going to join FB as a client solutions partner and they doubled my salary but the role isn’t what I want. I don’t want to do sales but strategy/product. I’m now having stress nightmares that I sabotaged my career and now I’m getting interview requests for roles that are more my liking. Should I renege? I won’t be miserable but I’m worried about future career steps

Comp question for VC. My firm is fundraising a third fund. I’m not expecting my full bonus this year; I joined in April. At bonus time, I’m thinking about asking my partner if he would match my contribution to the new fund if I dedicated my whole bonus $ to it? So ex. if my bonus is $20k, I take none of it in cash, put $ in the fund, and ideally firm matches another $20k. My reasoning: it’s a deferred comp rather than cash, and I want to show I’m dedicated and plan to stick around. Am I crazy?

Can someone explain the difference between FB’s Partner Solutions Manager and the Strategic Partner Manager? From an initial recruiter call, it seems the SPM provides the consultative product recs while the PSM onboards the client onto that product and tracks performance to provide actionable recs as needed. Anyone know career growth and salary for these two? I don’t want a sales heavy/only lateral growth role like their client solutions manager roles so these seem like good compromises?

Can one partner have more shares (in equity) than another? Let´s say you saved a lot of cash or won in lottery and you were just made partner. You decide to buy more share as a “junior partner” than the oldest partner and now you have more shares than this oldest partner. Will your bonus big bigger than all the others even if you area or yourself don´t bring that much money to the firm, especially because you are still a junior partner?

Are secondments for salary partners generally a nudge out the door?

My spouse is a salary partner at an AmLaw200 firm. Her PG leader offered her a secondment with real responsibility at a newly regular client with a growing book of business. In a later conversation, she told the PG leader her goal is equity (not this year but eventually). The PG leader says she is on track but also that the group has recently made new equity partners and “everything could change tomorrow.” Is she being nudged?

What’s the difference between salary and equity partners? Pros and cons? And what differentiates the salary partner from a senior counsel other than prestige?

Wish we could be as specific as hiring companies are now: Writer seeks mid-size agency in small city with low traffic, easy access to nature. Agency must be independent. No holding companies. Conceptual Art partner must be provided. Salary must meet at least 4As standards. Mac provided can not be more than 2 years old. Agency must be AOR of for at least 5 clients for at least 3 years each. One account must be an alcohol brand. No open plan offices permitted. Agency must do my taxes.

We had evaluations and normally we have annual raises. I think my salary is under market value at $68k (plus OT) in Los Angeles (5 years of experience). I was told I am one of the top employees in the firm. When I asked about a raise, I was told “when you think about it at your level 5k to 10k doesn’t really matter it’s the long term goal that matters”. What would be your response to that, to a partner who is making 500-600k a year?

Came into public accounting from school & put my head down & made it to Senior Manager (maybe a year early). It would be a 2 year rotation. Would I be limiting my exit opportunities or is this a good gig?

How are y’all feeling about the no bonus no raise situation? KPMG here, not too bothered but also can’t help but compare my org with other big 4, that managed their financials way better and can afford bonuses and pay rises and no layoffs for their employees (of course partner pay is getting impacted I’m sure to save the workforce). I wonder where we went wrong, and if the lake house investment (which we will not be using for two years, was a good investment)...

One of my closest friends needed help launching his brand. I helped them for free. He casually reaches out every week to discuss stuff in detail. Hasn’t done it much recently, but now he wants my partner to provide their POV on their area of expertise. My partner and I are currently looking for jobs, and I feel it’s a bit insensitive of him not to offer some compensation. I’d ask for it but im a bit confused if doing so would make me a shitty friend. Isn’t that what friends are for?
