I’m almost a second year associate, non-trad, 34 years old with a wife and 3 kids. Haven’t taken the fam on a vacation since I started law school because we had no money, and now I’m finding it difficult to pull the trigger because I’m trying to build a practice and establish myself in the firm. Is it ok to take a vacation? How do I pull away?
Looking for recommendations for the SHRM-SCP exam; going the self study route…thanks
I've spent the last 20years running a technology recruitment business working globally with VC backed startups and global multinationals. I'm keen to share my learnings in the hope that there is value to be had for young recruiters starting out in their careers. Here I share my views on how best to conduct a candidate interview so as to gather the right information to be able to make informed decisions on next steps
I've been using the free version of Casetext for a few years. It's fast, basic, and I like it. Unfortunately, they have gone subscription only. The firm has (and I dislike) Westlaw. Any good alternatives to Casetext that provide for lightweight, fast case resources?
Anyone actually keep their PHR active? I got my cert in 2013 and have done nothing since.
There’s no reason for your boss to be rude to you, right? Be a little more professional.
I am a fresh college graduate and got an offer for the role as Talent Intelligent Analyst.
Anyone who works as Talent Intelligent Analyst under the HR? What is it working like? And does the role demand too much of attention, stress and overload working hours?
Also any tips??
Thank you :)
Trying to make it through my last 3 days at a firm that tried to unethically force me to take a crappy client because they didn’t want it. So glad I stood up for myself. Finding it hard to stay the next 3 days since I have no time off between jobs.
I’m currently a hr specialist and have 3-4 years experience in hr with 10 years fully admin. I’m now level 7 cipd qualified with a masters in HR and struggling to get into a hr manager role as I’m way overqualified for the role I’m in now. How hard is to break into manager role?
Question: how long after a C&D reply do wait for OC to reply before you consider the matter closed. Sent a reply and OC went radio silent for over a month.
First year at AM100 firm. Was told we get a percentage of what we bring in but the partner gets an origination credit of 50%. Does that mean he is getting 50% of all billables, regardless if I bring it in?
Can anyone provide any insight on Hinckley Allen? Boston in particular. Good place to work? Billable hours requirement? Any info would be helpful. Thanks!
Anyone in this bowl did the CAMS exam? If so, is this an exam that can be passed without AML experience?
I’ve practiced litigation in DC for about 5+ years at a larger plaintiffs’ firm, and am considering a switch to a defense firm. Is there any insight to how many billable hours this would require, and how much time that would actually be? For reference, the firm has a 1900 billable hour requirement and the partner said I would have “no problem” fulfilling that based on the work they have.
What are some steps to go through to get successfully up-and-running from an HR perspective both externally and internally in new states?
Anybody work on substantial non-billable tasks (e.g. large pitch) only to have the partners look through their ‘billable hour goggles’ and tell you you’re not busy? Hello, I recorded 70 hours this week, feeding me billables is actually your job. /rant
Any recommendations for executive search firms that pair well with mid sized companies? We are looking to interview a firm to retain a search for someone in our C- suite.
I’ve been in my role since June of 2020 right after graduating college. I truly cannot say enough good things about my manufacturer but lately, as in the last 6ish months, I’ve truly been questioning whether there is more for me here.
As a 23 year old I know I’m more apt to hop or seek out other opportunities so I don’t want to be rash or just “toy around with leaving because I’m bored”. But at this point, I’ve reached my 2nd coaching (first was 4/2021) and it’s clear my role isn’t for me…..
Any opinions on this company? Does 60k seem fair for this role?

I have 18 years of very solid experience in Tech Risk ( Big 4, top tier banks, fortune 100) I’m very underpaid in my current role ( where I’ve been for 4-5 years now and built the whole program) but everything else is great. Im seeking the right Senior Director/ VP opportunities in Technology Risk, Technology Audit. Can anyone connect me to executive recruiters? I would also love to transition to tech industry as such, but open to all industries.

I'm so confused. Trump said covid was a hoax. How could he get it? And how can a god get sick with a disease? I don't know what to think.

Got a L5 offer for cloud architect at 210 TC. Does this sound in the ballpark of fair comp for this position?
looking for job switch as a PLSQL developer and having 1 month notice period. I have attended interview in TCS on Sunday and haven't heard back from them yet. The personal who had scheduled my interview isn't replying to my mails. Does that mean I'm rejected? The interview was good though. If anyone has any idea please let me know.
What is the best way to apply at ATK? The careers webpage seems to be less active with no listings
When does the big firm machine work? Or does it ever? The more you orginate, the more associates you need, the more you cost the firm, etc. Seems like more money more problems. Is there a sweet spot in an Am 200 firm?

Been friends with a guy for 3 years. He knows I kinda have a crush on him, but I don’t push for anything and I do go on dates with other guys, etc. Last week I went to his house to hang out (we hanged out one on one often), and we ended up sleeping together. Neither of us were drunk. It just happened. I left the next morning- didn’t feel like talking about the event then because I was processing my feeling. Now I reached out and wanted to meet and talk, but he refused to meet. Con’t below.
