I have a team member who has a tendency to miss deadlines, is reluctant to take on tasks which they don't like or refuses to participate in company-wide mandates w/o me & the other team members validating the why's. Prior to joining my team, this behavior was alluded to but never told to me directly. Now I'm seeing it. I've discussed missed deadlines which are acknowledged but w/o permanent resolution. I'm going to give her a verbal warning in the upcoming review. Other suggestions?

Where are you located and where does payroll live in your company, and what size/industry?
I'm in Ontario Canada, small (75 ppl tech firm) and payroll has always sat in finance. In prev other small and mid sized tech companies has been the same, payroll is in finance. Our new American finance leader wants it to move to HR and I absolutely do not want payroll, nor is my team capable of doing payroll, even with training. It's not standard from what I've seen, but curious what others experience is

So, I got through to final stages at a management consultancy where they all ‘loved me’ apparently. Job being advertised at £50-70k, they said I have potential & if they do want to offer me a role (within 2 wks as snr mgt team all on holiday wtf) would be a starting salary of £45k with salary increases (timeline of this increase tbd) in accordance with my performance. They’ve tried recruiting internally but can’t even get anyone past the first round. I feel like rejecting on principle! Thoughts?

I’m actually happy for once, but there’s this sick desire to sabotage it and remain the unhappy, unloveable piece of shit I used to see myself as.

The twilio bleeding has finally stopped! 🤠

Those of you wanting to make a move, are you holding on to your current big law gig given the economic forecast or jumping anyway? Concerned about “first in, first out” and have good reputation at current firm (would not be the first to go if/when layoffs occur since others bill less) but dying to go in house after a decade in law firm practice.

Hey Amazon 🐠

Would love to get an opinion regarding flexibility for working parents at Amazon. I’ve heard quite a bit of negativity about working at Amazon, but wanted to get a broader perspective particularly about work-life balance for Sr Tech Product Mgr roles. I understand this is team dependent but the more insight/opinions I hear certainly helps.

If you have offers from Marcum, RSM and BDO. Which one to choose and why?

Hey MC fishes,

I joined PwC Advisory (Financial Services) last July in Mumbai and it has been decent so far. Competency wise, a good fit too.

Now, the lockdown is getting people hitched and I stepped into the trap as well. My fiancée works for a semiconductor major in Bangalore as the industry is location constrained.

Would be really helpful if you guys can help me with any openings in FS MC or FS Tech in Bangalore.

Really hoping for some help/advice.

After 13 years in government, really want to get out. Anyone have experience convincing the rest of the world you’re not a “government employee”? I think hiring managers see government work and assume I’m lazy. Ways to get around this?

Do any of you spend time on HNBA or other affinity organizations? If so, do you bill your time as non-billable, i.e. diversity? And how do you balance your time going to an events/getting involved?

hello any accounting expert in SAP FI AA module here? can somebody tell me what is the difference between Net book value and current replacement value?

my end objective is to obtain a KPI which measures the current value of an asset in a manufacturing firm and this should include depreciation value.
