I know this isn’t a job board but what the heck...anyone’s firm hiring remote securities attorneys? Older second year associate with 5 years of pre- law school and 5 years post-law school prior relevant experience. Most recently 1.5 years of traditional cap markets/securities law experience.

Advice to young lawyers. Read a book. I saw the thread about savings and many young lawyers (20s and 30s) don’t know how to open up a brokerage account or invest in their 401k. I know they don’t teach personal finance in school (though they should!), but my advice is that you should go to your local library and read a book about the subject. You have the skills necessary but you must invest in yourself. No one will look out for you.
Hoping to get my PHR in the next year or so. Outside of employer reimbursement, are there other opportunities for this to get funded? I know SHRM Foundation offers scholarships for the CP, but I am looking for PHR specific help. Thank you! :)
Is reading through Fishbowl billable time?
You’re constantly showing up for everyone else, but who’s showing up for you? I started an initiative to coach HR/people leaders because I know what it’s like to be doing all the things for everyone else with little support or focus on your own well-being, growth and development. It’s a lonely game! I’d be delighted to create the space to make you a priority. Would love to offer a free session, or simply connect: https://www.chrisrollins.me/peopleleaders.
Hi Everyone! I’m torn between which HR certification to pursue (SHRM-SCP or SPHR). Which one would you recommend and why?
If you are feeling sick or something during the day and WFH, do you feel comfortable napping it off and then getting back to work and working late if needed? I have friends that say this is totally normal and okay but I feel weird about it and can never actually rest to feel better if I do lay down
Looking for ideas on how other companies are celebrating and recognizing diversity holidays like LGBT pride month Juneteenth black history month women’s history month etc.Not just days off
Finding it hard to continue as an attorney after 10 years as a very happy litigator doing insurance defense work including trials. Courts have been closed for over a year (I practice in NYC) and it does not look like I’ll ever have the lifestyle I once had and loved, going to court and depositions every day. Billable hours seem impossible without court and life has just gotten so gravely boring. Anyone else feeling lost? I’ve spent the entire last year trying to figure out where to go from here
Looking for a Copy Supervisor for our NJ team! Feel free to reach out if interested or apply below. workforcenow.adp.com/mascsr/default/mdf/recruitment/recruitment.html?cid=125a4952-3822-461d-b9d1-9d37079f32f7&jobId=381997&lang=en_US&source=CC2
I’m looking for a screening tool that will assess a candidate’s proficiency with MS-Teams. Would anyone know if there is such a thing that exists?
Anyone ever made the move from a smaller market with great work-life balance to a bigger market with poor work life balance in order to do more sophisticated work/more money? Currently only required to bill 1800, but I’m so sick of these lower middle market deals with sketchy clients and solo-practitioner opposing counsel.
Can anyone recommend a certificate or course that is actually useful for developing professionals and/or reviewing performance? I don’t want/need something that is just a credential, I’m actually looking to get some formal grounding in these two topics so I can overhaul processes at my consulting firm. Thanks for your advice!!!
Any thoughts on the best certifications to get in order to help move forward? I have considered the CCP from World at Work, but it’s fairly pricey to get by the time you wrap up everything. I was looking at both SHRM-CP and SPHR. Everyone that I have spoken to has the SHRM, but that’s also only looking at individuals in a small geographic footprint and within 3-4 different companies. I was hoping to get some thoughts on this from others? Thanks
Looking for feedback on Paylocity and UKG payroll HRIS. We have 250 employees and rapidly growing company.
How long, on average, did it take you to study before you could pass the PHR/SPHR exam? Did you think it was worth it?
Gave my two weeks yesterday and the case transition will be completed within a few days. Do I stay the full two weeks even though I won’t have more than 2-4 hours to bill a day (if I stretch it out)? Advice on what to do.
Hi all. For those of you married or in committed relationships out there, I’d like to know: do you and your spouse take on an ‘equal load’ in your home and life generally? Or would you say that your roles are more gender specific in nature? I’ve noticed that a lot of couples around me are very gender specific in their roles/ traditional (for the lack of a better word), and was wondering if that’s true more generally? I thought things had changed more than they seem to have!
Anyone been fired for low performance as a young lawyer? How did you deal with it and move on?
Hi, I'm looking for a job change in Business Analysis, I've 2 years experience in a product based startup. Please let me know if any openings for the same. Thanks.
MBB people: What actually encourages you to give a referral to someone? Don’t want to come off like someone who’s just desperate for a referral but at the same time that’s exactly who I am.
I'm so sure I'm not in a job I enjoy.. I feel pressurized and so tensed and have that constant thought of office and work all the time.. I've been applying for new opportunities night and day.. Fingers crossed that I may get to switch soon..
Hi guys! I work at PwC within the data transformation and analytics group. I got an RFE related to specialty occupation for my Visa. Do you recommend going for premium processing?
Is it easy to go from small local firm to big 4?
Should I leave my agency, where I have good work life balance but shit pay, for blackstone, which will ruin my work life balance but pays double my current salary?
MBB people in London (or other non-US financial hubs) - if you are aligned to the financial services industry, are you still on the road most of the time or are projects more local?
How is your district implementing school reentry? How are you setting up your classrooms to meeting social distancing while still allowing for free play?
I'm 27 living in a LCOL at $135k. Haas/Darden/Tuck/Ross FT MBA at full price vs a pre-sales role at a non-FAANG big tech company paying around $160k-$200k TC. Bschool exits would be MBB/T2. Career trajectory is supposedly slow at this non-faang big tech company. Is a T10 MBA a no brainer?
I was on a Skype call during the Presidential Emergency Alert and, apparently for that reason, did not receive it. Had this been an actual nuclear emergency, Skype literally could have killed me. FML.
For "senior" roles at FAANG, does the title correlate well between the companies? Unlike the discrepancies we see between consulting firms? I see widely varying YOE in the job descriptions (more team dependent than company dependant) but I'm not sure how faang companies perceive each others' titles. Data science if it matters.
Are case interviews at McKinsey & Company structured upon the role you are applying for? Or is it just one thumb rule applied to applicants for all roles? Anyone went through a case interview for the Implementation sector, care to share some insights and experience? TIA!
Ever feel like your client counter-part feels threatened by you? Doesn't really want me to own deliverables but insists I help with them instead. I'm consultant-level so I need to own some
