2 years into my Big 4 gig, feeling burnt out and undervalued. Anyone successfully transition to industry accounting? What's the work-life balance like?

Perfect time to make the transition to industry. No more timesheets , budgets , chargeable hours goals, no more 70-80 hour weeks. Life is good outside of public accounting .

WLB in industry tax role was great but so boring with abismal raises and zero prospect of progressing in my career. But I got to recharge for a few years. That was just my experience though I never went into an accounting role. YMMV.

If you’re burnt out it might be worth it to take a detour into industry - learn your role from the inside. It’s actually helped me a lot now that I’m back in public, to know what it’s like to be on the client side.

I am just starting my CPA journey, currently trying to finish course requirement for my state. How can I get a job at Big4?

Currently in the same situation. Seriously considering making the jump, with a final round interview next week. I’ve been going back and forth in my head but I think now is the time to go

At your level, you should take a role at a company that will allow you opportunities for career growth and advancement. Some roles in industry can be dead ends.

Has anyone ever posted a general marketing position? We have an open position on our marketing team but we are unsure what type of position to offer. We have a wide variety of needs but don’t necessarily need to have this future person have all these skills. For example we need someone with great copywriting skills and also need someone who is great at digital marketing. This person doesn’t necessarily need to have both skills but if they did great, but if only one, great too.
