Hi there. Ex Deloitte Sr Mgr here, currently in tech pre sales (SaaS / MarTech). Recently spoke to both Salesforce and Adobe recruiters for roles that I thought were lateral moves (Sr SA / Sr SC), therefore I did not proceed with the selection process. The recruiters from both companies told me they typically hire at that level, and people are considered for promotion to Principal in 1 to 2 years. I found that odd. Is that right? What’s the typical TC for SAs and SCs there? (15+ yrs exp).

AWS cloud application architect. Had an on-site interview with AWS a few days ago and just got an email saying they want to talk to me about next steps. The role is cloud application architect but I want to ask them about the senior cloud application architect role. I have all the relevant experience for that role and feel like I’d be a better fit for that senior role. How should I approach this conversation? Is this even possible? Amazon

Ofc you're not too old but I would hope you'd be a good programmer after 10 years
Not that I don't believe you but you said you were bad and "survived"
Am I too old ?
Whatever makes you money my friend.
I started as a developer in the late 90s: Delphi, C#, Assembler. Moved to consulting but kept coding on the side. Have a few products that bring good passive income.
I am very excited about AI and quantum computing, finally something interesting. Because lets be honest programming hasn’t change over the last few decades. There are new languages and the cloud but it is mostly the same thing at scale.
Hacker rank challenges are a great way to test your skills and see where you need to improve.
I say go for it!
Not crazy but bear in mind that with your resume you will be looking at less senior roles in dev than you would be in QA management.
Oh definitely, but I'm nearly retired, so it's not about money anymore, it's about making out like a bandit for fun.
