Hi Infosys guys, I have cleared one technical interview and got email for further round which is planned for tomorrow. Email mentions that this is a telephonic interview, is this supposed to be an HR round discussing salary or another tech round.

Im not searching for a new job but an acquaintance reached out about a similar role at a similar energy company.Turns out 2 ppl threw my name in the hat. I looked into it and the position was posted 2 weeks ago.Their director wants to meet.I bet pay is one of the first things to be discussed so that no one’s time is wasted.Am I crazy for not wanting to entertain it for less than 20-25% base pay increase? Is it selfish to ask for more? I’m sure most salary conversations end in negotiation anyways?

How did you break into IB?
Most recruiters can’t get you jobs that don’t directly correlate to your current role. My first job was as a state auditor and wanted to break into big 4. A recruiter told me none of the big 4 would want me since I was a state employee. I felt crushed as I wanted the “big 4” experience. I went out myself and networked. Met a senior manager and got a job at Deloitte Tax within the next month. It’s about who you know. The recruiters are not gonna waste their time trying to get you into a role that’s a harder fit.
Did the recruiter specialize in landing fund accounting roles? Maybe just speaking to make a buck
Was the recruiter from Robert Half? Different details, but I had a similar experience
So happy to read about your success. I agree that recruiters don't always understand your skill set. I worked in fund accounting for many years and it was a niche that I enjoyed. But you cannot compare working in IB to being a fund accountant or any other operations role. Some of my former colleagues became CFA's and ended up in prestigious and much higher paying roles.
The only good recruiters I’ve seen are the executive ones. The people who only place VP / C-Suite level. Everyone else will say anything to get you to feel like you shouldn’t dream and take their role they get paid for instead lol
Agreed, never Ever let anyone limit what your abilities are. You can learn to do anything if you commit to. Thanks for sharing the inspiration
Recruiters are hit or miss with salary and trajectory. Some can only talk on what they’ve seen which is hyper localized, low/average performing transitions. Leaving audit as a senior, recruiter told me I’d be lucky to get $70-$75. I left for $100, left that 4 months later for $130. Basically doubled her suggestion.
Do you have any advice on how to make this switch and what experience you had in PA that you feel like has helped you transition or even given you an edge? Thinking of trying to make a similar switch but not sure where to start.
