A friend just started a new job with unlimited PTO. I advised him to be intentional, discuss expectations with his manager, and use the benefit rather than waiting for the “perfect” time. For those with unlimited PTO, how much time do you take over the summer? Do you spread it out or take 2 week blocks?

Does anyone have experience or thoughts about life after big law (whatever that means)? I'm a third year tax associate and seriously worrying whether I've chosen a practice area that is too "niche" to find something after. Do I even want to practice law? Do I just need a vacation?? I received a verbal offer for a VP position at CCB line of business at JPMC in NYC two weeks ago. The recruiter asked for salary expectations but there was no number set. It’s been two weeks since and complete radio silence. I sent an email to a hiring manager a week ago but received no reply. It’s August so people could be on vacation but this is really strange. Has anyone had similar experience?

Question: an employee was asked by his boss for same day turn around on responses/deliverables on a days he requested PTO. He completed the work. The manager wants to know if she can still deduct PTO time for the days requested, even though he completed work on those days. Help.

Serious billing question - if during the course of the day, you first receive an email from Client A at say 11:10am and you read it, you then respond to it at 12:20pm. You get another email at 2pm from Client A and respond immediately. The next email comes in at 4pm, you read it and respond only at 4:30pm. None of the email responses take more than 3-5mins. You are working on matters for other clients at all other times during the day. How much are you billing for Client A?

In my organization, most with my role are commission based. I make a set salary due to the firm I work for as an account manager/ coordinator for clients… I coordinate their enrollments, working with each groups HR department as to benefits and payroll purposes, and schedule our benefit counselors accordingly. Hello, I am a junior business administrator working in advisory operations. I have been with the company for 6 months, and was employed along with 2 other colleagues. I have picked the job up really fast and am even doing some “extra curricula’s” I really love my job. However I have recently found out I am being paid the same as an apprentice on my team, I usually do at 3 x the work he does whilst also doing my Cert CII. It has really disheartened me and I feel I should be earning more money

How does one tell their boss (owner of the company) that you are burnt out? The sheer volume of work is exhausting and I haven’t taken a true vacation as we are a small company so if something urgent comes to my email I feel like I must respond. I was given an additional title and more responsibilities last year as well but only a 3% raise for it.
