PwC A recruiter from PWC reached out to me to ask if I’d consider a different office the one I applied to, since it’s full. It would be Boston, Hartford, Chicago, Minneapolis, Little Rock, Denver, San Francisco or San Jose. MSA candidate. Is there a fully remote option? Do you have to be in the office all the time? Is the compensation high at PWC? Is there a possible moving expenses? Any insight or advice would help me make a decision. Thank you!

Depending on how close. My best friend’s kids, i consistently gift $100 on every birthday. Considering it’s the 1st that amount may make sense. If not a fan at all, then $50.
Thank you! It’s a best friend and their first child.
$100 is a great amount
Also the 529 plans that I have contributed to (at 2 separate companies) both have 6-digit ID codes you can get from the parents to easily deposit directly. I do this for my niece every year, and there’s no work or question from anyone else. Worth asking.
Thank you!
I wish I had friends that were interested in donating to 529s for my kids 😭
If you give money, just assume the parent spends it for themselves, instead of for the kids. Or, not everything goes to the kid.

That’s why I would give a cash gift without restrictions. I don’t tell people how to use their gifts.
$100 for college funds (Venmo message). Whether the parents use it for college funds or buy short-term needs like diapers is really none of your business. Cheers!
I don’t understand the resistance to my wanting to donate to her 529? My friends (the parents of the child) told me that they set up the account and appreciate contributions to it. My question was about an appropriate amount. Why are you people so ruffled over that? It’s like I said I want to buy the baby a book and you’re all suggesting a toy instead??
Anyway. I requested the link, the parents were thrilled and appreciative, and the kiddo had a lovely first birthday. I apologize to anyone who would have preferred I bought her 100 bucks worth of plastic garbage from Amazon, instead. Have a wonderful day! (And a big thank you to those with a pinch of financial acumen who actually answered the question - I suspect you’re the only parents in this thread lol.)
Will do - thank you!
That’s weird. Just give them a $100 check
You’re right. Nothing states “special” as Venmoing someone…
Does it have to be given as “a 529 contribution”? Can you just give money? I ask because I have nieces and nephews and I give cash on birthdays. I don’t care to stipulate to my sister where the money goes, because the kids are in Robotics, math club, chess club, and so on, and these extra curriculars cost money. So whether my $100 goes to dinner one night for the family, or directly to the kids’ education, my sister and her husband will be handling the expenses anyway. And every little bit helps.

Or you could just not tell a recipient how to use a gift…

You can set up the 529 so that others can deposit into it.
I think thats fantastic gift. Check (yes its still valid form of payment) or venmo would do
For us, and other states, the parent can log into their account and get a link and/or send an email to accept gifts directly into our kids’ 529 … just need to ask the parents for the link.
I believe $100 Amazon gift card will do. You could send an e-card.
If you know where their 529 is located, you could also do a 529 gift card. I think most state plans have gift cards associated now for this kind of thing.
$100 is fine for a first bday.

Just give a check or cash in a card. Venmo is impersonal and also telling someone how to spend a cash gift is a little off putting…it’s a gift.
Lives on an opposite coast and I’d rather not send cash or check in the mail
This is a great idea and I love it when my friends do this for my kids. Our 529 has a link you can share for others to contribute. Other have IDs etc. if you are close to them ask for the info on how to contribute. Giving money is another step the parents have to take, cut that out for them.
Thanks! I’ll ask for the link when I call to wish the baby happy birthday.
