A quick question on interfaith marriages and proposing. My partner is orthodox Jewish and we’ve been together for a couple of years. I follow most customs and intend to convert to Judaism to continue the practices and be able to raise children when we have them eventually. The community and all of our friends are Jewish, except me. However, when it comes to him proposing, could he do that before I convert or only after I convert ? Getting married in September, have a vax only policy for guests. My fiancé’s sister is bringing her unvaccinated spouse to the hotel where all the wedding festivities are being held b/c she is too scared to fly on an airplane without him. I’m currently an associate (no kids) in a very busy corp group (think 50-60 billable weekly). My wife works significantly less (currently part time, 10-15, but hopefully will be full time soon). Looking to exit from 195k base to a sales role base 140 + 40 in guaranteed bonus year 1 to make up for the lengthy sales cycle. I know in the long run total comp through equity and sales commission bonus can be much higher but having a hard time making the jump… mostly my ego to drop drastically in TCO the first year after spending all these years trying to increase base. Yidden, I've been slowly drifting away from religion. It's odd because I used to be so connected, and I still retain the same values! Technology, however, has made religious ritual feel so lifeless, and I can barely muster the energies to maintain even a bare Jewish lifestyle. My fiancé just made Aliyah for med school. Long distance is hard but I love my job/firm culture. I wish I could stay, but I’ll need to switch to a firm that allows working abroad in a year at the latest. In a year, we get married and I make Aliyah too. I’m afraid to tell anyone at my firm.
