Ok be honest, candidates. I really love this set of questions, I’ve been considering shifting my current interview style to these questions - I think they really give you an idea of who this person would be within the work setting. But the questions almost feel too deep for a recruiter to ask. What would you think if a recruiter took a different path and asked these questions instead of the usual ones?

I wasn’t able to negotiate at all with my first offer until I got a second offer and I played them against each other. It’s really hard to negotiate for tour first job as you are unproven but if you resolution feel like you are being lowballed try to bring some data to back you up when you counter.
I agree. Unless you have a competing offer, it is more difficult to negotiate. Especially when it’s your first attorney job and you have to prove your worth and capability what first. However, you should know the market value of your position and take into consideration that firms spend a lot of time and resources training entry level associate.
100% agree. Sometimes we are willing to pay a small signing bonus but the salary offer is what it is.
It can help to ask when you have the next review. For example, “I understand this is the starting salary. Can we revisit this number 6 months from now?” So YOU know you have half a year to prove yourself and learn, and THEY know you have the expectation for steady increases as you grow.
May i ask the billable requirement, pay, and location?
But chin up - first job is just a first job! You’ll get there.
Unless you have a great resume with lots of legal experience or another offer to use as leverage I say take the 60-65. Use it as a stepping stone if you’re fresh out of law school. I made 50k out of law school and now I’m at 80k almost 2 years in practice.
