I need that more than a eyebrow lady that comes every week, more than an open bar (well, wine and beer and cheese puffs) every Thursday. I don’t need ice cream and other band aids, if we had someone come in like 3x a week that would be amazing. It would really help our agency as a whole. Every agency should have it actually. Because this ad life is no joke.
@AD1 Orrrr being in this industry is stressful on its face and exacerbates any anxiety/mental health issues that someone is already dealing with? We’re not curing cancer, but it doesn’t mean that our work doesn’t invite stress, long hours, or demanding clients, bosses, and coworkers.
@OP Many agencies now have employee assistance programs that offer insight into mental health issues and therapy. It might be useful checking these out! And definitely prioritize self-care and therapy once a week if you need it - some people need 2x weekly therapy, so if that’s something that’s necessary, carve out the time. I agree it’s unfortunate our industry as a whole doesn’t prioritize mental health, which just means you have to prioritize it for yourself. You’re your own advocate. Good luck!
OP - you’re right. Ad life is no joke. That said, if you need an on call therapist that’s a sign. We’re not working in Axelrod’s bull pen. Not worth it.
