hey folks, I am going to join Oracle ossi in Hyderabad location. I have never been to Hyderabad, and will be relocating. Please guide on what would be good areas to look for rent. Also, what would be rent like for 2/3 bhk. Ideally my budget for rent would be <25k. Initially I will be going but in future my family will join me once I am settled. Any points to note or any other gotcha to keep in mind ? Please suggest.

Girl, there is apparently an iRPM guide on DNet that says that 114 hours is the expectation for C level firm hours per PY. Because I am a FB consultant, I was reading my phone on the toilet. I literally nearly pooped when I saw that given the hours that I had put in. Sorry if that was graphic- hopefully we can all handle it and laugh a little on this Fri. Afternoon.
Deloitte OP, I hope you can find a support system within the firm that you seem to be looking for. We all need "our people" to get by. But if you don't, or in addition, find a good therapist-therapy can be really healthy.
So, happy story- a PPD referred me for tickets to attend this charity event this week on behalf of the firm. It is a charity that I have been passionate about for years. There are good and happy parts of my job here and for the most part, I like it a lot. I just need some clarity, and like you have said, some real life mentors. (All of mine are SCs and I feel bad taking their time. My practice area has very few SCs and Ms so it is pretty much C's, SM's, and PPD's, and frankly, I think that we all seem equally overworked and stressed). Time for some of that empowered well being!
Sorry for being mean D1. The analogy is spot but not nice. We have enough callousness in the world without my contribution. Have a great weekend
As a counselor in Federal, last year in consensus there was zero discussion of PRD hours, except when a counselee had too many, in which case the counselor was told to discuss the dangers of burnout. The consensus conversations were strictly about client service hours and utilization. All firm contributions (not just PRD) were also presented to provide a complete picture, but that was also about impact, not hours. This year we will have firm contribution scatterplots, so I'm sure that consensus conversations will revolve around number of snapshots and position on the scatterplot, not hours.
@D7: Exactly. I think it's going to be the same this year with the addition of firm contribution scatterplots.
C- federal- utilization: 89%, PRD: 550; maybe we should distinguish fed vs commercial. Should we do total hours or utilization? Also, please don't attack me for 550. I'm the sucker who found out about the irpm 114 hour target two weeks ago. OP- great idea!
??? This is insane. C - commercial S&O, util 90%, maybe 150 PRD+firm initiative hours
Thanks, guys. I know- talk about being a sucker! I was gunning for an internal transfer and was "proving myself" to the PPDs whose sponsorship I needed for the transfer. I am not even kidding when I thought that everyone else was doing the same amount. The "cool" part is that I lead a business development effort that (knock on wood) is likely to result in us unseating a 12 year incumbent for a $24 million project that is cross-functional and highly scalable. We shall see. We now just have to f-ing win it for it to help me at YE, I think. We have strong reason to believe that we will win it, but don't want to jinx it! How's that for proving myself? (Insert exasperated and frustrated yet oddly happy and excited face here)
Let's. It
"Guide/expectation" the whole guide says to prioritize client work no matter what
Thanks, D6! Looks like I am up there with M (which frankly, I have 9 years of experience so I should prob be an M, but one step at a time in this place!)
1st year C, 110%, ~325 PRD\firm.
Does Deloitte publish target PRD hours? What's the goal for SC in Fed?
PRD? What is that proposal work?
D3- pretty sure fed SC was also 114. You can find the guide on the iRPM page
It is bc I am losing my mind and all I have been doing is working for-ev-er for the last few weeks. Ok, this is officially embarrassing. Clearly I have zero perspective on what is normal within the firm and I am learning through FB. Honestly, based off of my convo with everyone else in the office and happy hours, it seemed like everyone was doing the same so I did not even think twice about this until people on FB called it out. Maybe it is one of those perception is reality things and everyone put out the perception that this is what they were doing and I was the sucker who actually did it. Ok, I shall not speak of this on FB anymore until 1. We find out if we have won the work (and then it will be public) and 2. We find out whether this will get me more than a 3 or not. Haha honest to God, I have accepted that there is a 70% chance that I will get a 3, which is also prob contributing to me going crazy. I need to step away from the bowl and put some kind of parental control ok to block this app. Haha how funny would it be if someone from my consensus panel was on FB and recognized the story and then was like, oh, this fish was all over FB with this stupid story. We cannot trust this one. Give him/her a 4 for being on FB.
D9- i wrote those terms down from the huddle call today. I was like, "oh, that's how you describe this project..." i hate jargon
D3- thank you, kind fish 🍻 D9 has implied that I have given away too much info (which frankly, if you can identify a client and an actual project from that, good for you; also, all this fed stuff is usually public record anyways) so I'll hold off on saying service line, but it is prob obvious. Thanks for your kind words 🙂
D7- making it brief bc clearly I have written too much. Yes, have an extrovert do Sharepoint for three weeks straight (exaggerating, people) and of course I'll explode into paragraphs on this app. Haha Re: hours for M- oh, for sure. I have seen too many a SM pour tons of hours into a proposal, not win, and have to deal with the consequences. If hours were enough to succeed within D, we'd prob all be much more relaxed haha well, I'm glad that you at least read it all. I wrote that much bc I figured that you were actually interested and was simply trying to explain the answer. No, you are totally right that it does not add up and that is exactly why I am looking to leave this account/practice area within the next few months. Everyone openly admits that this practice does not jive with the rest of the company, but we keep it around anyways, but just barely. Hopefully I did not give away too much, D9!
D3- not by choice! I was literally "in recovery" aka living a normal, healthy, happy, and well balanced life and then had this convo with my counselor in mid-Jan. that made me feel pressured to have a crazy existence for a few weeks. I know exactly how to not be like this and am looking forward to being able to do that, hopefully soon enough.
65% util, 25 proposal hours. SC who started in oct.
