Hi fishies. I have a ton of interviews coming up soon including a case interview at EY within their Innovation and Experience Design practice for Digital Strategy Manager. I am super comfortable with CX, design thinking, etc which are the types of projects I would be working on BUT I am absolutely terrible in case interviews. I was hoping it would be based on CX or design but my understanding is there is some revenue component idk. Anyone have any insight? I would greatly greatly appreciate it!

It goes sr consultant -> associate -> engagement manager. Travel is a pretty individual experience, I know some FS based in NY who barely travel and some who are barely in NY. In general there are a lot of FS clients in NY so it's not hard to find local projects if that's what you wanted. FS is half the firm so even if you're in core, it's hard to avoid doing an FS project.
FYI - Associates manage teams. You'll be assessed in the interviews for appropriate level to come in at. Then after a project or two, you'll be staffed based on the level you're performing at.
Why would it be hard to get staffed at manager level?
Because PwC can't seem to staff half its employees
Ah I see. I don't think it's hard to get staffed as a manager here because 1) we have pretty lean teams so it can often be 1 manager to 2 consultants and 2) as a result of turnover, we have fewer people in the middle levels. I think that's also why we started ramping up experienced hiring, to fill the middle bracket.
Any recruiting tips for experienced hire applicants?
I know many people in the NY that are FS and have yet to travel. I also feel like the firm makes an effort to accommodate travel requests. Also, promotions seem much faster than at other firms, especially since there is no MBA requirement.
In terms of staffing, is it hard to get staffed at the Manager level? Debating which level to apply.
How is the FS pipeline right now? Is OW FS still hiring for associate / manager positions?
OW: at PwC, senior associates are allotted the greatest number of slots on projects because they are essentially cheaper, and are the worker bees. There are fewer slots for Managers because you may only need 1 Manager over 4 seniors for example. Earlier this year, Manager new hires were having a tough time getting staffed because the market was slow. Also both clients and Partners are much more selective about who they select for Manager roles versus who they hire for senior roles. So coming in at the Manager level would actually put you at a disadvantage.
