I don’t trust cheese that doesn’t melt
The new company I’m at now sent me an email from an email address that was HR@companyName.careers saying I was accepted for the position. They gave me paperwork to fill out and sign to accept the position
I fill out the paperwork and send it back to them and it goes through… then a few days later I go back to the email to say something else and I get this…?
Then today I got a check from the company In the mail to setup my home office, and it’s signed by someone I’ve never met before or heard of…?

Here’s a hypothesis
- people who have few interests, hobbies, or social life outside work, or whose whole world or identity centers around their job prefer RTO
- people with full lives outside of work, hobbies and interests unrelated to their job, whose identity and social life don’t center on their work prefer WFH

I think my point went over your head VM.
I’ll spell it out.
I was doing what you did, already.
My post was mocking what you did.
You mocking me mocking you is now you mocking you.
You are now mocking yourself.
I live for wfh. I'm a loner by nature so my life is a lot more pleasant without forced interaction. I'm on lots of teams calls so I can chat with people and catch up on our lives, but then I'm instantly transported back to my happy place- my home with my dog
I wouldn’t say I have that experience! I’m still enjoying it because it gives me more time and energy to do the things I love outside of work. What helps me stay out of a rut is having places to go and hobbies after work. Going to the gym, making elaborate meals, and joining a social group that puts on events a few times a month.
I feel the same. Both my kids are at home with me all day and my job is demanding! All the days blur together. 3+ years of WFT and I am definitely thinking about going back to in person until I remind myself how much daycare costs. 🤣 I love the idea of signing up for some sort of sport but haven't pulled the trigger.
I joined a volleyball team, boxing gym and take pottery classes
I been virtual for over 5 years and tbh it has its pros and cons. Not meeting real people at work instead of Teams call and missing those little lunchtime or coffee break bonding & gossips. Let’s now focus on the good part - 1. No commute (saving over 3 hours/day) 2. Have more time for self care aka gym, eat healthy, meet people, family time 3. Saving money (more DIYs) and last but not the least controlled socialization options for ambiverts like myself..
Get a dog :)
I was grounded with COVID, and proving to be too effective remotely am doomed to stay remote in my current role. Rare travel options are offered to others, but not me. I got an alternative short-term assignment and felt like Dorothy in Oz when her world became colorized. Travel is like oxygen to me now, and I cannot compromise to live without it.
