Technical answer: read about data theory and database design, there are many types. One is a hierarchical index. Branches can be completely different from each other.
Free your mind and don't try to create structure. Just write down all your mess of thoughts. Then you can look at it all, drag and drop in order or groups. Add and remove etc.
It has a ton of features. But the basic is just like using a notepad. It just so happens that each line is a bulleted item that can be organized however way you want.
I like it because the overhead is low. I don't have to waste time clicking items and creating rules for stuff. I can just slap down whatever pops into my head immediately
