Anyone have any tips for staying calm while waiting for bar results? I took NY this past July and they’re predicting results mid-December

Honestly get a hobby or find joy in all your free time. Neither of these things will help. Nor will it help to hear from EVERYONE how they know you'll pass. Just ride it out and distract yourself as best you can

Same boat as you. There’s no way out. Just block out the noise as best you can. Go and enjoy the bit of time you have before December draws closer.

I started getting together all my documents for my application. It takes a while and the sooner you submit the better for swearing in purposes. I also booked trips, caught up on doctor apts I neglected during law school, started working out more, enjoyed the parks I was too stressed to see during bar prep. Make the most of this time, especially if you’re not working. I updated my resume and had everything read to go once I got results. But I also took a moment and breathed , this middle zone between the responsibilities of a lawyer and end of being a student comes only once. I spent time with family, invested in my nephews and nieces lives, made up for the lost time due to school/ bar prep. You got this!

Enjoy the ignorant bliss of not knowing! There’s absolutely nothing you can do to change the results at this point. You’ll know when the results start rolling out. Word spreads incredibly quickly lol Have a comfort food (or drink) on hand while you wait that day.

I was diagnosed with ADHD at the age of 12. My family did not opt to put me on medication. I illegally discovered Adderall in college. Worked incredible. Got diagnosed after college & after having been fired from my first job. Passed the CPA exams on Adderall. Went off of it again. I do everything well at my job except for attention to detail within my excel files & emails. Will taking ADHD medication really fix this? Does anyone else have this issue and was it resolved by taking medication?

I have a looming sense of self hatred. I take medication I workout and do all the things to feel good, but it’s just stuck there. This is a privileged problem and I know it’s minuscule to compared to the actual struggles of so many people in the US and abroad. Just wondering if anyone has felt this as well and if so, how do you get rid of that self hatred?

Might be starting at a small agency as a full time Junior AD soon, fingers crossed. The only other roles I’ve had at agencies were freelance and intern before WFH.

What equipment do I absolutely need at home? And how should I bring it up?

I currently have a 2015 MacBook Pro that’s running on fumes. An Wacom Intuos Pro. A mouse. A few external hard drives. And a second screen.

Hello 👋

After about 18 months of hustling, I’ve been offered my first AD role. My background is in engineering so for what feels like forever I’ve been building (and rebuilding) my book with creative work and it’s finally paid off 🎉

I want to hit the ground running so I’m trying to learn as much as possible before I start.

Can anyone recommend some books, shows, talks, social accounts etc that I can learn from?

Thank you!

When did you know your firm wasn't right for you? I'm not sure if it's just the stress of being a new attorney with a family or if my job isn't the right fit. I work in civil litigation and am consistently below my billables. I can't stay late because my kids need me and I can't work on the weekends because I have to maintain my house and take care of my kids. I'm being constantly told to work harder, stay later, etc but it's not practical. Or am I not approaching this with the right mindset?

How should I handle this?
