How will you measure your life - Clay Christensen

Two of my favorite books ever. Read Bill Mcraven's "Make Your Bed:The Little Things That Can Change Your Life." Also, I really enjoyed When Breath Becomes Air. Tuesday's With Morrie has lessons that are timeless.

Book recommendations threads! Include title with a brief summary: ‘The Philosopher and the Wolf’ by Mark Rowlands. A book about connections beyond humans. Not just with animals, but the world. He does a phenomenal job of wrapping philosophical thoughts and theories into every day life. Highly recommend for those who love the outdoors, have a dog, or want a new outlook on life.

Would you say summaries are as effective for self help books like "the subtle art of giving a fk" and other similar books? I feel the books themselves ramble on too much on a side story only to tell a point that could be summed up in a couple sentences. Or am I just not getting good book recommendations for growth/development on mental well being and productivity

Genuinely interested in educating myself. Some people are applauding Simone Biles for withdrawing from Olympics. I am trying to understand how mental health suddenly becomes an issue in a few days? It isn’t like a bone fracture that happens suddenly. Wouldn’t Simone (who has gone through hundreds of competitions) have known the scrutiny an olympic demands to have not participated in the first place? A genuine request - please refrain from attacking or posting non-constructive comments.

Has anyone ever tried negotiating for more vacation rather than a higher salary? I'm applying and interviewing for jobs right now. Some firms have unlimited PTO while others only give a few weeks. Personally, I'm much more interested in getting an additional week of vacation and would rather negotiate for that but usually only hear of people negotiating for salary. Has anyone had experience with this?

A CRO offerred me an internal consulting/biz dev role. They offered 145k TC (20% bump) and slightly better benefits. They also offered accelerated path (6mo to 1yr) to MC. While promotion to MC at my current company is at least 1 year away. The job is interesting to me and fits my careery goal. But my big concern is that I've only been with my current company for a year (this is my first job, post PhD). Would this affect my resume in the future in terms of being viewed as "job hopping"?
