There is a far runway that supposedly only 7% of arrivals use. It’s about a 30 min taxi to the terminal. It can take longer, especially if the pilot gets lost on the way
^ what MD1 said. In addition, if your plane lands early, they get sent to penalty box to wait till the assigned gate opens up. There’s the time to the penalty box and out, along with a multitude of other reasons.

Appreciate the info, P3. Sounds almost like busy airports need a runway ATC, backed up by a Waze for runways, in addition to the regular ones.
I don’t fly through here much but the last two times I have my plan took the absolute longest route to get from runway to our gate
Can depend on weather as well as it effects which runways are used for landing and take off
This happens far too often to smaller planes, and for the right reasons
