Anyone went back to public accounting after doing government work? I did 5 years in PA (big4 audit, CPA), but switched over to the IRS and have been here for about 3 years. I'm thinking about doing maybe 2 more years here and I want to see about going back to PA - really miss the caliber of the people I used to work with in PA. Would love to hear what opportunities were available for people who've done something similar. I hear tax controversy groups might work, but would I qualify for it?

Hello, I am in USI GES tax at DUSI. I love my job but not my team and mgmt anymore. I'm a performer and I'm dumped with work of 2 ppl while others are searching for work. I am burned out.

I resigned and accepted a job with EY GDS with a huge pay bump that DUSI can't match but I also gave up my potential promotion for 2023.

I've been feeling bad about putting my papers down and letting go off my promotion but I am really tired. I took up this job as an escape.

For context I have the opportunity to move to London and pivot into a new field for me but the job is at an agency. I am a Chartered accountant and truth be told given the current times CA is a really low incentive education any potent person can get. Today I see engineers barely with a few years of experience earning lakhs per month. Whereas me despite being in the right place at the right time is working hard 10-11 hours each day even today. One of my senior managers is a boomerang and told me she was laid off when she was 7 months pregnant about 10 years ago. I think she was a senior or manager. She was in a specific group and everybody was laid off. It wasn’t performance based.
