At the office, do you eat your lunch at your desk or lunchroom/social area?

I find bringing those food smells into the office area kinda annoying but I do eat my desk when I don't want to socialize with other people!

How do I be a decent manager to a coworker who's upset I've been promoted twice in two years and they haven't? We started out as coworkers, became decent friends after a few good moments, but went back to simply coworkers after they flubbed a few projects and I had to step in to clean up. I'm non-confrontational but year-end reviews are right around the corner and I'm worried about having to act professional to someone who I got too close with and who now hates me.

How do you handle working with teachers that give very little back to the profession, don’t appear to like children and any interactions are negative or gossipy? And they are in your grade level

Lesson learnt:

Never tell your colleagues where you are joining beforehand.
Not all are good advisors, some will ruin your mind with their opinions.

I signed for a new job two months ago and will start next month (3 mo notice period in Europe). They were very keen on getting me on-board ASAP before signing but since I signed the contract it has been silent from the new employee. I've emailed them with questions as I'll be re-locating to NL and it takes them 1-2 weeks to reply. Given all that's going on in the world, I'm worried they might fire me before I even start.

I recently had a specialist partner send me a fairly nasty email after I (a transactional first year) was told to ask them to review something ASAP that had clearly been on my partner’s radar for over a week. Why am I taking the (honestly justified) blame for this? Surely it should be obvious that I’m just the messenger here.

Is there a corporate way to bring up to senior leaders that an IC is causing issues across multiple teams because they are demanding and also doesn’t collaborate well? I’m honestly curious why the following happens: someone asks a question about covid restrictions/health issues/ etc and half of the responses are “this shouldn’t even be a question”. Today I saw a post about safe countries to travel to and general covid restrictions and half the responses were judgmental and rude. “No one should be traveling now- idk why you’re even asking this question.” “Asking this question means you’re part of the problem” what is UP w this level of judgment?????

I had a panel interview two weeks ago. I sent the recruiter a status check email last Friday and haven't heard back. I'm really interested in this company and still see the role posted on their site. I'd like to send another email today (to the hiring mgr and recruiter) reiterating my interest along with a list of references. Thoughts on sending the references without them asking?
